Title: Do you deliver?
Post by: Travis on January 31, 2013, 06:21:05 PM
"Do you deliver?" Your answer can be a deal breaker or a deal maker. How do you respond?

It depends on
how much I will make on the item.
how far.
how long I have had the item.
and other things can come into play.

Delivery is always an option. Ive only denied one delivery request because it would have been a 350 mile round trip over the mountains. The gas would have cost more then the piece I was selling.

Typically delivery is included in the price (furniture) or if it is a small less expensive piece then I will add in a delivery charge. Most people don't mind the extra delivery charge.

with items like furniture if you have a truck to move it its definately a selling point as its a huge hassle and expense to have to rent a truck to go buy a couch or something. one thing i often do with delivery is make the person come see the item in person and pay in person before delivery. i find sometimes people have you drive to their place and then try to renegotiate the deal and they have leverage at that point since you wasted time and gas money and want to get the deal done

Sometimes, depending on the persons location and whether or not they fail the attitude test. Sometimes if it is a bulky item and I am having trouble selling it I will say "delivery may be available depending on location" in the ad and then suddenly there is interest. I guess lots of people want stuff but just don't have access to a truck to pick it up.

.......for me, it's just a matter of distance & profit.    Mostly CL sales so usually the buyer isn't to far off.  Ill split the difference.
