Title: eBay & PayPal Splitting Up
Post by: Travis on September 30, 2014, 01:37:21 PM
eBay just announced that eBay and PayPal will split into two independent, publicly-traded companies to further each company's growth. What do you think about this separation? Good move or not?

I don't think this is really an issue that affects us users much if any, more probably for independent decision making to be made about each ocmpany as well as tax benefits possibly. Ebay and Paypal are wierd together. I love how they work together to ban you from ebay or to do the 21 day holds but hwen it comes to releasing those 21 day holds all the sudden they are not linked and you have to go manually enter tracking, call paypal up and go item by item telling them this item positive feedback was left for, this item tracking shows delivered 3 days ago. THey are linked when it suits them and not linked when they want to hold our money. :41:

I think ebay will have to operate like Amazon..

Ebay will collect the monies from the buyer.
Ebay will then send the money to the seller.

We won't see every item in paypal or be-able to refund through paypal.

Paypal will then be able to become a payment method for Amazon and other market places in competition with ebay. Since other market places don't want ebay to see what they are selling..
