Title: How often is your flea market cancelled due to weather ?
Post by: MovieMan on December 22, 2012, 09:31:00 AM
In central California our winter weather is pretty mild, but RAIN can be a problem some years.

Last year my regular Saturday flea was only cancelled twice. This year I have been rained out 3 of the last 5 Saturdays. Not good !

Of course compared to many areas where snow knocks out any outdoor markets (I suspect) this is not the worst case scenario.  Fleas in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains DO have snow problems...I don't know if they even make an effort to be open.

Summertime is a different story. In the central valley here a 100 degree day is not uncommon June through October even, but the heat doesn't keep buyers away as much as rain and wind in the winter.

One of the Arizona members here has talked of 115 degree days in her area. I think that might keep me as a seller away, but I would walk it as a buyer !

my market is open from march to christmas eve it is always open rain or shine and they dont give refunds , they will however sell your spot for you and credit your next week if they have a buyer for the spot

when they used to give rain checks they did it perhaps twice a year

if it wasnt raining at 7am when they opened you paid even if it poured at 715
