Title: Looking forward to the summer to have some garage sales
Post by: rulesforrebels on February 03, 2011, 08:09:34 PM
I'm looking forward to the summer so I can have a few garage sales. In Chicago so got 3' of snow on the ground so aways away from garage sales. There always a good way to get rid of items that don't sell elsewhere.

I got hundredsif not thousands of t=shirts and stuff from recent auctions that I just can't bring myself to throw away or give away. At garage sales put a big gin out, say 5 for $10 or something like that and people can use them for rags for washing teh car in the summer or work shirts if your a paitner, landscaper, etc.

There's a guy on ebay Glendon, I imagine some of you have watched his videos. He had a funny video where he said his association came up with some rules lmiiting you to one per year. I guess his neighbors were getting pissed he had a year round yard sale...lol...can't say I would be too thrilled with him as a nieghbor either though I do understand wanting to hustle and make some money.

I used to go to garage sales a lot but pretty much stopped that when I started doing auctions and then flea market sales. I sell on Saturday and most of the garage sales are on Saturday.

I DO still shop the flea markets though, a little on Saturday before and after I sell and then on Sunday.

Anyway, my CITY has a regulation limiting garage sales to 2 per year. This is to protect neighborhoods more than anything else I would guess.

Though I do like to hit a garage sale or two per summer I was talking about actually having them to sell my storage stuff.

Lots of stuff that won't sell on ebay, resale shops, etc you can get rid of with a garage sale. Like tshirts and stuff like that, sellem cheap as work shirts or rags and you'll sell as many as you have to sell. Other stuff like cheap kitchen type stuff toasters, blenders, silverware, dishes.

I was just talking about that with a friend today.  People are getting "cabin fever", and I can't wait for that first big spring sale!  I've got piles of stuff just waiting!
