Title: Winter Yard Sales in Southeast
Post by: Millertime on December 26, 2011, 01:25:56 PM
For those of you in the southeast, do you have yardsales in the winter months? We get many sunny 50 degree days that would be nice yardsale weather to me, but don't see alot of them. Thinking about watching weather and picking a good Saturday, put ad on Craiglist couple days before, road signs and see what happens. If anyone does this, how was it?

Its worth a shot! You wont have many other yard sales competiting for you traffic, and your signs should stand out as there aren't many other yard sale signs going up in the winter. You just got to make sure to advertise it well as people don't expect many yardsale in the winter but I am sure they would attend one if they knew about it and the weather was nice enough.

I would agree with Drew.

However for us there is no change in yard sales with the seasons. There were 5 (advertised) on this past Friday and a few on Saturday.  ???

So let us know how it goes. And good luck.

i dont see any reason why people wouldn't assuming the weather is comfortable. here in the north were stuck with the handful of ghetto indoor flea markets we have in my area

I am in South Texas and have been having some 80 plus degree weather.  Today is mid 70s.

If I would have the space, I would have a garage sale now. those that are die hard rummagers can't wait for them to start up. I find the best time is in spring, being one of the first sales of the season. another is right after the kids go back to school.

In my area of GA I see only a few post on CL for sales.  Don't know how well they do but there is very little competetion.  I did the flea today since weather was in the mid 60s and did well.

I'm in Alabama and have had really successful sales in the winter. There seems to be less competition, but those yard sale junkies still like to get their bargain-hunting fix no matter the season. And it's not so ungodly hot, so people tend to browse a little more.

Hell, I'd have a yard sale in three feet of snow. For that matter, I'd build snowmen pointing which direction to turn & holding signs that say this way to one cool sale. Exploiting Frosty, yeah I know, I'm going to Hell.
