Hello, I got this thing out of a unit saturday, and Haven't been able to identify it at all.
-
It is 6ft tall, weighs 80lbs , is handcut wood, and shaped like a sled.
-
And the strange part is there are hundreds of knapped stones embedded in one side.
-
And there appears to be old dried blood on some of the stones.
I have been buying units for 5 yrs and this is the first item I haven't been able to figure out. Any help is appreciated.
-
It's possible that it is a threshing board of some kind.

That's exactly what I was going to guess. Tho I didn't know the name of it.
Some of the small organic cranberry farmers still use homemade versions of those.
Might try and google around that area for info. Maybe that's the "dried blood"?
I'm totally guessing here.

Thanks guys, I knew someone here would know. Now to sell it.
-
I gotta say, as someone who's bought/sold/collected old stuff all my life, that is one of the coolest things I've EVER seen! Good find!
-
That would make a killer head board for a bed. Or hang it from the ceiling with some pendant lights. Get creative with it!
-
Thanks All, I got it in a smartbox for 75.00. It was right in front and the auctioneer even turned it around to try to figure it out before bidding started. I was the only bid. The rest of the box was full of Ethan Allen furniture, Older but still good quality.
Also a Nice microfiber couch with no cushions. Lol

I was the only bid.
Wow! Where did this miracle occur, if I might ask? (she said, bright green with envy!)
;D

South Florida. It was a strange auction, the bids were low even with about 50 people, and on a Saturday. I think the problem was that we could see auction tags on everything so it felt like buildup units.
-
Even I think that it is a threshing board. The good thing is it seems to be in good shape.

Given your signature block, I wonder how many people on this forum are actually in the market for a storage locker
in Dublin, Ireland. :o
