Do you think there are any positive effects from the recent popularity of storage auctions?

the initial uptick was in 2010 when sw first came out.  Its all been downhill from there.

Besides the crowds getting bigger and prices going higher one of things I've noticed is that the rooms are getting worse.  Now that people see it on tv and know that it could happen to them they've started to pull valuables out.  Of course there are going to be exceptions but the days of finding a little gold in every room are long gone.

might just be your area auctionguy, im still finding an ounce or more a month in gold, unit quality overall has gone down a bit though. and that may have to do with the economy. people are storing crappier stuff because they have crappier stuff. my opinion, maybe im just in a honey hole

I personally see no positive effects. Auctions are more crowded, more of a headache, less parking, take longer, more headaches with idiots with no money buying or people backing out after winning, resale shops are paying less as they have more people comming in with items. I see no positives to the popularity of aucitons.

Thats great! ... I haven't found so much as a single earring at the bottom of a purse in months.  I am also going after different rooms these days so that might also play into it.

I think you hit the nail on the head. When I think about the rooms I've found precious metals in, all of them have been household units with a mix of furniture and boxes or units with a lot of vintage items & boxes.
