Title: Bitcoins...near price of gold
Post by: MovieMan on November 30, 2013, 01:05:00 PM
I mentioned bitcoins in another post and decided to do some research on them.

Here are two articles about the "currency".  The first one is a general article and the 2nd is about the price in November, 2013. Compare that price to what it was in January, 2013 (both prices are in the 2nd article).

Also, here's the link to a story about how a fellow threw away a hard drive that had a lot of bitcoin credit stored on it.

It's crazy how the price has skyrocketed. About 3 years ago I owned a cellphone store and I had a guy come in telling me that I should accept bitcoins as a form of payment, I did a lot of selling online... unlocked T-Mobile phones and such. I thought this guy was absolutely crazy as he explained what it was to me.. I had never heard of it before and I don't think anyone has mentioned it to me since. But turns out, I should have listened!

bitcoins really shot into the news lately. i think they are a bit high though people at one point were saying it will never hit 100. then it will never hit 500. i dont know what high it could possibly reach but some argue with limited supply and demand as it is it could reach as high as 100,000 per coin. i have a little bit of bitcoins though i plan on getting into litecoins and feathercoins as i think there's more upside to those as they are still cheaper obviously not as widely accepted or the name recognition that bitcoin has. as far as bitcoin mining its dead unless your a computer genious working in a great pool

I looked into Bitcoining a couple of different times over the last couple of years. I will probabaly end up being a "horse and buggy" guy over this, but each time I thought about getting in, there were either huge fluctuations in the bitcoin market or rumors about Federal Government take over, it just seems too risky to me.
