Bought my first locker!
« on: May 12, 2011, 03:43:41 PM »
Bought my first unit today! It was much better today than yesterday. 5 units up for sale with 9 bidders. Highest went for $275 and others for 40-50 bucks. I bought mine for $20 buck it was the last unit a 10x20 has a buch of broken dressers and matresses. I did find a dresser and a headboard that will sell along with some weight equipment a xbox and 2 nice bunkbed frames. Got some on Craigslist now hope to pull $300-400 profit. Will let you know how it goes....... Now I gotta figure out how to get rid of the junk!

I love discount units, especially with discount units with volume. For $20, it's hard to lose anything more than your time. If you can buy 2-3 discount units a week and make a few hundred bucks on each one, you're not doing too shabby. Be careful though, sometimes the reason you get them cheap is because they require a lot of work.

No doubt that there s some work but if it was easy everyone would do it right?

I love and hate the units with lots of broken and crappy furniture.

Normally the furniture does't really dictate the type of stuff in the unit however many buyers are turned off at the prospect of having to move and dispose of all that stuff.

As long as you have a buddy who's apt dumpsters you can use to toss stuff out your good. Craigslist free section isn't bad either.

You can normally pick these units up for cheap because of this. I think a lot of people assume crap furniture equals crap stuff but I think a lot of people keep the old furniture thinking their son or daughter will bring it to college or the first apt so it doesn't necessarily mean they have crappy stuff.

Well I think I did OK on this one..... Paid $20 sold some freeweights for 125 I was suprised those went nuts on Craigslist. Also sold a dresser and headboard for $75, 2 bunkbeds one for 80 and the other for 70. Watercooler went for 20..... All said and done total profit 350 on a 20 dollar locker. I'll take that!

That is a great start. I wish I could find some auctions with only 9 people!!! It has been getting somewhat better lately it seems though.
