Do you prefer storage auctions with or without auctioneers, and why?

By "auctioneer" I assume you mean "professional" auctioneer rather than just employee of facility?

Cause without an auctioneer (professional or otherwise) it isn't an auction......it's just a bunch of people standing around in front of a storage unit.

Yes, and true. Allow me to rephrase:

Do you prefer storage auctions with a professional auctioneer or lien sales where the facility manager accepts the highest offer, and why?

Its 50 / 50...  With an pro there is no problems with unit managers that don't know their stuff.  I like things to be clean and legal, no messy business.

The downside to the pro's is that they all know who the heavy hitters are and the little guy doesn't have a chance.  I've often found myself standing around at a site for an extra hour because so and so hasn't arrived yet, or a unit that should have been auctioned gets pulled and saved for next month...
