Title: Errors in legal notices
Post by: Travis on October 29, 2014, 09:50:36 AM
Have you ever noticed an error in a legal notice which might have prevented the sale from occurring? If you did notice an error, would you just keep your mouth shut about it or would you notify the storage facility?

If there was an error I would probably say something. I am no good at staying quiet about a mistake someone made that may or may not benefit me. I would feel like I was stealing something.

If I notice a mistake in a legal notice that may end up cancelling the entire auction I'll call the facility and let them know.  Most of the time they fix it and put in a new one the next day.

If I only catch it the day of the auction when I'm going through the names I keep it to myself.  I don't consider it stealing because of a typo.  At the end of the day they still haven't paid their bill for 45+ days and have abandoned their unit in one way or another.

I have seen someone bid another person up on a really good unit and when they lost they went into the main office and told them that there was an error in the legal notice .. which there was .. when the guy came in to pay they voided the sale.  The result was a fist fight in the parking lot.

Oh wow, people actually fist fought!? I would be quick to leave the place and not return. It scares me seeing people fight in public places. I always worry someone innocent will get hurt.

Very true, but let me rephrase the question. Which individual sustained the highest degree of injury?

Nothing very visible just a couple of good hits to the face each.  It was broken up fairly quickly.
