How much money do your bring to an auction ?

Don't know how many people will answer this...or answer honestly...but we'll see.

This won't be too meaningful to the new buyers, but perhaps an eye-opener for them anyway. Some new folks think they're going to get a gold-bar locker for $100 instead of $1,000 and up.

Anyway, in my area it is not uncommon to see regular, big bid buyers bringing $5k with them. This wouldn't be used on your everyday lkr of course, but perhaps on a high-end biz that went out of biz. Phone systems, computers, networking systems, plotter printers, etc command a high price here more often than not.

I once lost a collectible store (comic books, action figues in boxes) lkr because I had only brought $3,000. It went for the $3,100 the next bidder offered.

I only bring with me between 800-1000 bucks in cash. But i do have ATM and credit cards ready if i have to stop by one inbetween locations.

Reason for not bringing more cash is for security reasons, and the fact that i have a gameplan going, most possible units for 20-200 bucks. And then make minimum triple back on everything i buy. Like my 50 dollar locker yesterday, turns out a nice profit of minimum 1400 dollars.  I am still waiting for an answeer back on the rock, from Memphis Archaeological and Geological Society.

When i buy lockers i know what i want and what units to bid on. I probobly pass on 80% of the lockers, and bid on 20% of them. I stay away from lockers i know is gonna go ovr 250 dollars.

Only way I'll pay over a thousand for a locker is if it's something I know I can easily turn around like a car, motorcycle, trailer, arcade games, etc. Basically a few larger ticket items, not a whole unit full of stuff no matter how great.

You can't sell from empty shelves and a big locker with high quality furniture showing is a good sign the 20 totes will hold good stuff too. It's always a gamble of course based on what you can see usually, but sometimes going with a gut feeling will pay off....or not.
