Has anyone else noticed more buyers coming out due to the cooler weather?

The last couple of storage auctions in my area I have seen less people. Hope it continues this way but at the auction barn this is the time of year that it gets crazy. Cold weather equals lots of people and high prices. My usual $5.00 end table will now go for $35.00. That is the way the seasons go so you just have to be prepared.

I hoping that as the temps drop the people stay home in the heat. Around here, we can see temps as low as 30ish.. Although it only seems to last a month or two.. We won't see temps like that until January, but hopefully a few brisk 40ish days in Nov./Dec. is enough to keep the wusses at home.

It will keep a few away but there will be more (like you) thinking the same thing, so don't be surprised if the crowd is still large.

Around my area "winter" just means rain and the same thought prevails...turns out a lot of people will brave the rain thinking others will stay at home. One buy was so bundled up (with a parka hood drawn around his face) I couldn't even tell who it was until he made a bid !

Yep, Bad or Unseasonable weather for your particular area tends to draw a larger crowd instead of a logical smaller crowd. Typical novice psychology at play. "The weathers bad! I bet nobody will be at the auction today, I'll get units for a steal!" Then the crowd is 20%-40% higher then normal  :-[

Crowds tend to slim out a little bit from now until the first income tax refund checks start arriving in your local, generally late January into mid February; then it's Storage Wars 2014 Edition! Lasts until mid May early June when all the income tax newbies and new retirees burn through their money.
