Title: Moving Your Merchandise - Hire Some Labor Or Do It Yourself
Post by: Travis on December 20, 2012, 10:14:05 PM
When it comes to cleaning out the storage unit, some storage auction buyers do all the labor themselves. Some have have friends or family members that lend a hand, while others just hire labor.

How do you move your merchandise and why do you feel this way works best for you?

It's me and my family, usually just the wife and I since my teenagers are lazy.  :'(

I wouldn't want friends to do it because if I break something it's on me, but if a friend did it it could cause hard feelings. Plus mine are mooches.

And I'd never hire a crew just because I'm a cheap bastard. :)

Me and the husband- Ok mostly the husband- and if it's very heavy a friend or two like this week with the 6 we had to clean out in 48 hours.  I would hire someone though if the score was enough to make up for the cost of it.

It's usually worth it. If you hire 2 guys at $10 an hour you can save your time and your back. Not only that, it frees you up to look for valuables.

Packed with heavy furniture or if the quanity of items is excessive I pay my brother inlaw or other family member to help otherwise I do it myself.
