Title: Placing a value on the unseen on 10x30's
Post by: acman on October 03, 2011, 08:05:36 AM
I have a sealed bid coming up on Friday again(same place where I won my first unit), and I am wondering how to bid a 10x30 pack decently with lots of dressers, I am wondering how much of the x factor $ mark to place on the unit for things not seen. I can share the picture but I don't want to be that guy that always asks about sealed bid units.

If I lose the 10x30 it's cool though, as there is a stuffed 10x10 with fishing poles and this really old sweet 50's back rubbing device. Again I'll post a pic if you want to see it, it's one of those really cool fins.

I always figure $10 a box for boxes and $2 a bag for bags then try to count or estimate how many are in there. Other items of value I add twice what I can see to the potnetial value. But some of it is still luck the boxes may hold nothing of value,

My only 10x30 purchase is still bringing in the big bucks due to what was unseen to my eyes.  The guy had a collection of Mitchell and Ness Jerseys, NBA and NFL.  When I say collection, I mean 36 various jerseys all mint condition and all in the 100-250 dollar price range.   He also had a collection of hats, about 25, and very nice shoes.

I'm saying that I am willing to place a little bit higher bet on lockers of that size, specifically a climate controlled unit.  Those units aren't cheap to rent and most people won't pay 100-300 dollars per month to store junk.

If anyone can tell me what the hell that things on the right is, I'm all ears.  First one to tell me gets a prize from the unit if I win it!

Are you talking about the thing with the band hanging off it?  If so, from that picture I would guess that it is one of those machines that were popular in the 70s (?) where you wrap that band around your rear and it vibrates very vigorously.  It was supposed to "melt away the pounds."  As they are no longer popular, You can guess how effective they were.

That's my guess, but a lot of it is hidden.

Yeah I'm talking about that thing with the belt hanging from it. Looking for a name of the product so I can research it. I'd love to know what it is worth

Thats a treadmill no?

Could have a gold mine INSIDE the dressers btw.
On the first on id bid 3-350
2nd id go higher look how old that vacume is, an various other items. The shelves tell me there could be products as well, id like a closer look at those fishing poles. To me it looks like a 70s unit.

Not in the picture he's asking about.

That's what I have been mulling over. I have always thought that everyone has that one junk drawer and I have kept valuables in junk drawers before, so I am hoping the previous owner was a lazy creature of habit that had that one junk drawer.  Not that I am expecting that though.

Well judging by the amount of mattresses in the 10x30 unit, this one appears to be an eviction storage.  Only going by pics my dad took, I'll get an actual look before bidding at 3:30.

The 10x10 doesn't look as promising as I thought, but I guess I'll get a better look in about an hour.
