Title: Poll to determine the average age of storage unit buyers
Post by: Travis on May 31, 2014, 11:34:31 PM
This poll will help us determine the average age of storage unit buyers. I'd appreciate everyone participating. Your answer will be anonymous. You'll be able to see the results afterwards. :great:

Why did you exclude under 18 year olds? Many buyers have their children/family involved.

Because a person must be 18 years or older to enter a legally binding contract.

I can tell you (in my area anyways) the average age is 40-60. Now if thats a true demographic around the country the numbers will be a bit skewed as i don't think the oldsters will be posting as much on a forum hehe

Very true, that's something to take into consideration.

Wow, I think this is going to be one of the best polls we've ever had. Probably because it's so easy to answer.

Wow ?

Maybe compared to other polls on here it is a lot, but with 17 votes and over 3,000 members it works out to a .51%....less than 1% response.

I would think something like a 10 to 15 percent response would be a "wow" factor.

Yeah, you're right. Perhaps wow wasn't the appropriate term to use. Perhaps I should have said  :wee_hee:  For our humble little forum, 17 votes on a poll is a new record.

Before the shows came on as we all talk about the goold old days I would say it was like 40+ males were like 90% of buyers, however now you se a much broader mix. I still think its say 35+ more males than females but you get everything. I see a lot of women at auctions these days. I occasionally run into younger guys like myself as well.

Auctions in my area are pretty well mixed now. At least I don't get harassed as often! Wasn't sure how many more "unit" innuendos I could take.

I actually think for my self storage facility we get a pretty good spread across all the different ages. It helps that where my self storage premises are we get a fair number of students from the Universities who are putting their things aside while they go on holiday, and we get some of the baby boomers who have things in storage while they're on retirement and the like. Hard to really pin point what I think we have the most of. And anyway, at the end of the day, all customers are good customers! :)
