And I totally understand that. I tried to just find out who the auctioneer was to contact him and they would not give out his number. From what my brother (my attorney) has said is that I should of been notified and given 14 days to pay and then the auction needed to be listed for 2 weeks. Is that accurate from what you all know?

Most states that I know of have to run a notice ( not positive)
Check your local paper for legal notices posted 2 weeks ago or last month till now and see if it was published. Also check other small local papers that may be cheaper for them to run the notice. most are on the internet so should be easy to find. The notice should list the Auction company.

They were looking to buy their stuff back so if they are will to pay the asking price why not ?

Would never back at asking price! If I were to sell they would have to pay for gas,wear and tear on truck,time spent loading and unloading. would have to tap on extra 800 to price and thats if i was in a giving mood.

Did you contact the storage facility to see if the buyer returned your personal items to them? Here in MA, like many other states, it's required by law, but even if it wasn't required by law I would still do it. Call them and ask.

Even if it is required by law how can the person prove it was in there? Unless the storage company rumaged through the unit. Thats illegal. So my question would be prove it was in there.

The ads are free to post. I heard it was illegal for the storage company to give such info out and that is why the ad was deleted.

It is my understanding that auctioneers are licensed in every state. If you have the auctioneers name, you should be able to locate that person thru the state licensing board. However, even if you locate that person and even if they have information on who purchased your locker, it is unlikely that they would give that information out. Of course, they may be more willing to contact the buyer on your behalf than the storage facility was.
It has been my experience that auction facilities are terrified of being sued and attempt to cross the Ts and dot the Is. They must be very sure that they are legally in the right for them to refuse to help you get at least your personal items back when they have so much exposure if they did it wrong.

I am in the same boat as this person. My entire life was auctioned off illegally.Yes illigeally. I was given no notice or even a change to stop it. I would love someone to help me find the person who purchased my locker in Valencia CA, on October 13. I don't care as much about the material items I just want my memories. My kids pics, my wedding pics. Please can anybody help me. I am devestated. You can laugh but I am serious. Will anyone please help me.  It was @ Valencia Self storage.

I had been making payments to them every 3-4 weeks and the last one was just 3 weeks ago. They were aware of the contents and assured me they WOULD NOT auction it off if I kept making payments.

think your answer is in the "I had been making payments" obviously behind in rent owed. In Florida they can start the process for auction if you are one day late (not that they do but can)

One of the units I won was from a small independent facility. When I was paying up the manager begged me to bring back all the pictures and personal items from the unit. I agreed. About a week later I took the personals back, and the manager told me he found or received in the mail the day of the auction a money order to pay up the balance on the unit. He was actually very distraught about auctioning off the units, especially that one knowing the money was in the mailbox, but he had to do what he had to do to keep the business going.

Our first Auction I think the unit was abounded the manager said please return the personal stuff.So she must have given it up knowing she could not catch up and waved further fees. I am sure for the Storage facility can get caught in the middle the renters are their customers, and then so are we. Think there is more to this story than given, Sounds like the facility told her one thing and management did something different.

If I have time, I'll put their personal stuff in a box and bring it back when I go to get my sweeping deposit back.  IF I HAVE TIME.  Thats the caveat.

Bought a 5x10, 10x10 and a 10x20 and had to have them all cleaned out in one day.  Personal stuff got trashed that time around. I felt horrible doing it, but time is money and I had three units all mish mashed together. I wasn't up for trying to divide up 3 personal boxes.

I try not to think about it.  When I paid up, that stuff became mine, in it's entirety. Buying lockers one at at time, I'll return their stuff (pictures, tax returns etc.).  Buying 3- trashing anything I cant sell.

If someone came up to me, wanted to buy their stuff back, it really depends on the stuff. 

High end furniture and electronics, they are going to pay through the nose. I know what I could make on it and while I may cut them a deal, they probably won't see it that way.

Particle board furniture and those older almond colored computers, pay me to get rid of that crap? deal!
