Seniors at auctions
« on: October 30, 2014, 07:04:19 PM »
At my local auctions, we have a group of about 6 seniors that attend. They usually come together and they all have mobility chairs, so I assume they all live at the same retirement community / nursing home. A poll here on the forum indicated that less than 1% of buyers are over 70, but that number may be influenced by the fact that seniors may be less likely to use the internet and online discussion forums.

Do you have seniors that attend auctions in your area?

Are you making this **** up? A gang of motorized senior citizens at the local storage auction?  :67:

No kidding, it looks like a Shriner's parade.

Were they bidding or just on a field trip after seeing Storage Wars?

I am 66 and there are always several that appear older than me.

One is buying units in support of a charitable organization that sells - all run by volunteers.

Another says his mother owns a flea market and he buys to stock the booth she operates.  "What ever it takes to keep her busy".

Both retired and usually show up with trailers and no help.  Some of us seniors get around pretty good.

Want to arm wrestle?  Or maybe a foot race - minimum of a mile?

They're regulars, and they do buy. Mainly smaller units that are easy for them to move.

I suppose they all wear jackets that have "Born to Ride" on the back.  :celebrate:
