Title: Small Town Facilities
Post by: jrossjr79 on May 04, 2011, 01:29:56 PM
Ok, I have not been much of anything this week because of my son being sick. But looks like I will be going out to a facility this Friday. It is in a small town that is 45 mins out of San Antonio. Sad thing is they only have 2 units up, as it stands right now, so I will be calling them late Thursday as well as while I am on my out there.

But I wanted to know what is yalls opinion on going to a small town storage auction. I am betting that there will be less competition, especially since they only advertise in their local paper. However I am not 100% sure. What do you all think?

Small Town Auctions are no guarantee that the crowds will be small, the last two Small town Auctions I hit a month or so back had a crowd of 45-50 people. Did get a cheap locker there, but still good size crowds.

I agree, there is no way to judge the crowd. However, speaking as someone who contacts several hundred smaller, rural facilities twice per month, statistically, the crowds are smaller. I have went to an auction at one of these facilities and myself and another lady were the only people there, then I went back to the same facility 3 months later and there were over thirty people present.

From my experience small towns have smaller crowds, but watch out, they tend to have at least one local whale who will run you up on any good units.

I agree, and compared to that whale, you might be the fish out of water. I kill me sometimes.
