Title: Storage Auctions & Identity Theft

Do you think storage auctions contribute to identity theft? After all, check books, IDs, credit cards, birth certificates, etc. are all commonly found in storage units.

i think dumbass people leaving their papers in a locker then not paying for it causes ID theft. But seriously, i can imagine theres an underground market for that stuff. I don't bother with anything illegal or immoral. All the porn gets thrown out and all the docs get shredded.

all the docs get shredded.

I'm sure that's more than most people do. The former owners of the units you buy should feel lucky.

I find a lot of check books. Someone could easly make a fake ID and pass bad checks to all kinds of businesses. They're luck I'm honest.

If someone can't pay for a storage unit who wants their identity and credit history lol. I'm sure some people have done bad things with info they found. I know I routintely find years worth of tax returns, social security cards, credit card statemetns, etc. If they didn't have auctions storage facilities would just throw them away and they would be at risk that way, its not like a storage facility is going to sort and shred sensitive documents so I don't think it contributes anymore than a storage facility just tossing them would

in my area auctions only come around about once every 2 weeks. because i do this full time i am obligated to get any unit that i can sell. I need 10-20 rooms a month to make a good living. I generally take down half the decent rooms.
