Title: useless DVDs
Post by: mhuynh9 on June 02, 2014, 07:03:39 AM
I have found a locker with a couple cases of a trade dvd.  The cases are nice and I might be able to sell them in bulk.  I was wondering if anyone knows if DVDs can be scraped?

Recyclers in my area are paying a penny per pound for plastics.

I think you and I were looking at the same locker. I did my homework and it looks like the DVD isn't really selling. Apparently the fitness guru is a local celeb (and I use the term celeb loosely.) The guy never even had an infomercial. What really got me was that only 5 copies of his movies have sold on eBay since March. Whoever buys this locker will be sitting on these things for years.

yep we were looking at the same one.  I assumed they would not sell so trying to figure if it was worth scrapping.  Figure it was going to go for a steal.

Maybe someone could use the CD's as an art project? I emailed the fitness guru to see if he would be interested in buying them back, no response. He lives in Dallas so I'm assuming it's his locker!

They should change the name of the DVD to Bankruptcy Boot Camp.

Looks like a few people are interested in the DVDs.

Another way to get rid if these things - sell them to dollar stores at .25-.50 each. There are probably 3-7K DVDs, so you could make a nice chunk of change.

I'm guessing lower than $500, but you never know. Someone might just look at the prices they're listed for on eBay ($8-11) and not look at how many have sold, thinking they've hit a gold mine.

I wish I could see how many are selling on Amazon. Looks like used copies are selling for as low as .77 + shipping & handling of 2.99. I think there is about $1.40 profit in the handling.

I was selling used DVD's at a garage sale, some lady came buy and bought them all, she didn't even look at what was on them..

I asked her, how come she didn't inspect them. She tells me, "I use them to scare off the birds and just string them all together"

So yeah, people will buy them...
