Title: What do YOU do when you sell an item.........
Post by: the teacher on February 11, 2011, 07:36:54 PM
to somebody and it doesn't work?  Such as, you buy a unit and it has a TV in it, and you sell it but then it ends up not working.  Or, you get a washer and dryer and don't get a chance to test it out, and once you've sold it, the dryer ends up being broken.  I know what I do, I'm just wanting to hear some of your experiences and comments.  I try to test everything before, but sometimes I get it sold before I actually had a chance to check it out.

I advertise all my items ast tested or not tested.

If the by an item from me that are tested, then thats no problem.
On the other hand if they buy something i have advertised as "not tested" and sold as is, i do not give a refund or anything like that.

I never sell anything without knowing the condition, if i have to then it is "as is" "not tested"

But normally i test everything before i send them out.

I usually have them tested right then and there to make sure it works. However on larger appliances, especially washers and dryers, I give them a receipt and let them know if it does not work they have 30 days to return it to me and I will give them a full refund.

So far no problems doing it this way.

When I was doing my huge garage sales every week, if I had a return I would try to swap it out with something similar. Especially in the cases involving appliances. If I didn't have something similar, I would offer them a credit on other merchandise at the garage sale.
