What do you do?

I sold a china cabinet this evening that had a 5 inch long X 1mm chip in the wood. I touched it up with a stain pen which covered it well but the damage was still there. It got me thinking, do you fully disclose all cosmetic damage to your Craigslist buyers or do you just keep your mouth shut and let them inspect the merchandise for themselves?

If its a big chip/rip/stain I will disclose and normally include a picture of that area so they will know exactly what they are in for with no surprises. If it is general light scratches and normal wear I'll just sum it up as "some light marks and wear'

That about sums it up for me as well.  I am even more careful on the Facebook garage sale groups since some shoppers will put up complaints.

I make sure any minor damage or issues are visable in the photos and let them make their own determination. They do get to inspect stuff before buying so I figure it's on them. Ebay is another matter. I mention every issue no matter how tiny.

I just tell them to come look at it, take their money and I'm happy...  anymore I don't fix anything, sell it as it is...

Those touch up/stain pens made by Minwax are worth their weight in gold. I've made unsellable pieces of furniture sell-able in a matter of minutes. It even works good with deep scratches since the stain helps fill them in.

Where I'm at it don't really matter.  They only have so much to spend, and if it is a nice furnture a few scratches will not matter.  Bottem line, is that when people don't have money to spend your not going to get it....
