Title: Where do you park?
Post by: Travis on June 15, 2014, 08:46:58 PM
Parking at storage auctions can sometimes be a nightmare. Do you strategically park your vehicle? Any tips for getting in/out quicker? Where do you park and why?

In a parking spot; because its there.

I usually pull into the gated area and flip my vehicle around so that I'm facing the exit gate. I don't like getting stuck in a traffic jam when everyone is leaving.

Not usually a problem but there are a few places that have very little parking available and can be tricky. We do always google earth the locations if we plan on bringing our trailer with us just to make sure we will be able to park nearby.

im always early, 30-45 minutes or so. for that exact reason, get the good spot with a quick exit to the gate, ESPECIALLY if its a caravan. If its a single facility auction i dont worry so much about it. Mainly because its very rare that i dont get a unit and i'll be picking through stuff right away after I pay.

Parking is not an issue anymore. Thankfully the hoards if newbies are gone. What gets me are these Aholes with handicap tags that park in the handicap parking spots at the facility.

Hey Ahole! To any of the Jacka$$ who are buying and CLEANING out storage units, that handicap spot is NOT for you!! It is for REAL handicap customers of the facility!

I don't care what kind of scheme you are working and claiming to be "disabled", if you are doing storage auctions for a living or even side money YOU ARE NOT HANDICAPPED!!!  :96:

Mental illness doesn't count, you can walk your happy a$$ a few more steps! By god we are walking around the freakin facility 3 times doing the auction but YOU gotta park in the handicap space?!  :41:

I like the "city units".   Small and generally, I suspect due to the extremely high cost, people only store stuff they want, not to much crap.

These placed have no parking so it's the old get there early and drive around the block a million times.

Generally I park on street anyway.  I never pull into gate.  People lean on car, put soda on trunk or throw garbage in back of truck.

Really, I've found storage auction and estate sale buyers to be some of the lowest forms of life when it comes to respecting others.  Not to say I haven't found good people, just that the majority needs to get some freaking manners.

Ahhhh......went from 'where do I park' to a rant in 4.6 seconds.  Think that's a new record for me.....

I've haven't had too many problems at storage auctions its the estate auctions where I run into the most trouble. Sometimes the cars are lined up and down the street. I drop mama at the door to register us, go park and hike back.....usually carrying 2 fold up chairs :13:.
