I have had a few, My husband had never done one, So his first he was so impressed that people paid him to take his stuff away. LOL I would wait until the first weekend of the month weather permitting. I priced my things to make them walk away. Any thing with a power cord $5.00 and up. ect. If you just want it gone price low, If you want a little profit price average. Depends on your location. Set out as much as you can on tables or two saw horses with wood. If you use a table you don't want to sell cover it with a sheet like a table clothe, because their is always someone who wants to buy what is not for sale. Our front porch furniture. Check out the flea market thread can get some pointers from there too. Go to a few and see how they are doing it. Hope that helps Good luck.

All of this sounds spot on, but something to add: 'Advertise' your yard sale through free outlets like craigslist/flyers on community boards. If you have enough merchandise you may want to consider paying for an ad in your local paper.

Yes that is good too... Mine fell on the first nice weekend in two weeks so people were out in droves. When you are stuck inside for two weeks in Fl. you go a little nuts... : ).  People came out and spent money. : ).

Had one last weekend sold $640 of mostly stuff i would have hauled to the dump.  I just advertised on craigslist and put signs up with clear directions pointing to my house.

People are too cheap at yard sales! Go to a swap meet where there are thousands of more people. There are too many yard sales going on.

Not all area's do the swap meet thing however.  I know in my area it is either the flea market or yard sale.  Twice a year the local army post has a huge yard sale but the fee's will kill you.  The local county has one also but not sure what the fee will be next year for that.
