Just starting out in Portland, OR!
« on: September 23, 2011, 12:18:53 PM »
Hey there auction hunters...... My neighbor and I have decided to give storage auctions a try. We both have full time jobs and didn't want to risk our regular salaries on a unit. So we scrapped metal for a few weeks and have saved some start up money. We are planning on attending an auction next week.

this statement x1000....my partner took me for crazy money and then declared bankruptcy. So I was stuck with a big chunk of the debt even though I left the company to them. Partnerships are very difficult to survive, but I guess if they do it can be a good thing...

Thanks for the info guys! Although we haven't bought a locker yet, we bought all the leftovers from a woman who had purchased 7  lockers, claimed that all she wanted was any jewelry or antiques out of them and led us to believe that there was still a lot of great stuff to take. She said there was Prada bags, hundreds of DVD etc.....Well it was all junk. Luckily we only paid $50 for all of it. It was our first gamble and we may be able to eek out our $50 in selling a few of the things.

The issue I saw with my partner is all of this is he thinks EVERYTHING has value. I wanted to throw 99.9% of it in the trash and he thinks we can sell it. I tried to explain to him that none of it is worth posting on craigslist and although we are doing flea markets, there is just no room to keep all the CRAP!
