Youngest Storage unit/Auction Buyer?

Youngest Storage unit/Auction Buyer?
« on: January 24, 2011, 01:30:37 PM »
Well I'm an 18 year old college student getting into this business right now.
I recently attended my first auction, it was divided into individual items and boxes, I bought a clayton marcus couch for 35 bucks, my first big win, it's a 300$ peice already sold!

Any tips for this noobie?

Hey welcome to the forums. Nice first score! Just understand you are gonna win some and lose some and if you are ok with that I think you will be just fine!

Thanks guys! Keep in mind I bought the couch with no place to store it because it was such a killer deal! haha it'll go quick, but anyways, do you guys travel to storage auctions? what is the max you would travel? I'm in pensacola florida, which our town gets 1 auction a month (or so) that's posted on auctionzip, should I call other storage facilities to find out their next scheduled auction? Do not all places use auctionzip?

Hey. Auctionzip is a good tool to check but not all auctioneers use it. I would like to think in Pensacola you probably have 15 or so storage auctions a month! Call around and also check you local papers legal section for auction listings.

If you want hands on information, you should call the storage facillity directly.
They will tell you when their next auction is.

So far i have a limit on 35 miles each way, any further away then that is starting to cost alot and take alot of time.
