Title: Do's and Don'ts for taking pics
Post by: Fantasia on May 16, 2013, 12:54:50 AM
What are the rules and etiquette for taking pictures of a unit before or during a sale? What about after it sold to someone else?

Depends on the auctioneer.  Last couple I have been at had no issues with it.  However I do know that some object to it.  I just take pics, if they object they will either tell me, or have given me some notice about it.

Around here, it's okay as long as you clear it with the management and auctioneer. One auctioneer announces it to the crowd as part of his auction rules. After the sale, as long as it's cool with the winning bidder, nobody can tell you to stop, IMO. So many people use the flash on their camera phones as flashlights around here, it's tough to tell who's using the light, or who's using the camera.

A lot of the people just take a photo of the unit. 1. The flash provides better lighting. 2. They have the ability to zoom in on things. 3. They can take their time looking at the photo instead of being rushed by the auctioneer or other bidders.

I only have a few places that say "no pictures".  Now - I do take pictures of any unit(s) that I win.  A few before I enter, a few during, any special item I find, etc.

I was wondering about pictures as well. If there are no pictures, can't you get scammed?

No, if you win a unit, you immediately put your own lock on it.

Ah! Okay, this is making a little more sense now. I will continue to read stuff on the forum to fully grasp everything.  :13:
