Selling at Auction Barn

I have read about 173 different threads and have not seen this addressed.

Does anyone pick the good stuff and then just deliver the rest to an area Auction house / Barn to move quickly?

Hey, welcome to the forum. I haven't heard of anyone doing this but perhaps someone else has. Seems like it would work for better quality furniture, antiques and collectibles.

In our LITTLE community we have 2 very low end weekly sales.
One a little better than the other.
Just thought it would be a way to pick thru the good - dump the other quickly do not have time or locations to do the flea mkt
Think they take 25% commission -=
Been buying pieces at both for our Country Store.
Just now looking at Storage.
Been Auction buying for years.
Bought farm and business/Store at auction.

I am in KY and didn't see any lots there - but may give that a try if/when I get a locker or more.

There are very few auction houses here, and what they look for is the best stuff to sell.. Wish they had something like a country auction barn around here!

I have been to both auctions several times - I am pretty sure that storage units are where most of the consigners are getting their 'stuff'.

Mostly low end furniture, knick knacks, low end glassware, purses, etc.  Doesn't sell for bunch - but it sells every week!
I actually pick up quite a few bargains to resell or keep.

Nearby is a higher level - haven't been in 4 or 5 years - but son (11) and I have been trying to get to for a few weeks.  Thier vacation and our baseball, baseball, baseball, basketball seems to get in the way of theirs

Yes! In fact I think most of my competition do this. Personally, I think this is the lazy way to do it, but sometimes even I need to move stuff through the auction house. I guess for people on disability, social security, pension, etc.; they don't need to maximize profit on the units so they can just pick the good stuff (if any) and send the rest to an auction house. I don't think this model will work for those trying to do storage auctions as a full-time business to live off of, unless they buy/win a whole bunch of units and have an auction house that can and will handle the load.

You know, I think Ricky & Bubba from Storage Wares Texas have the best set up. Their Lampasas Warehouse is located in a very small town and they have virtually no competition. They travel around Texas buying storage units and they bring everything back to the warehouse. They have a huge sale once a month and blow everything out. Since they're only open a few days per month, the people in Lampasas consider their sales somewhat of an event and they draw in big crowds.

Yup --- I run a Country Store/Convenience Store, 11 yr old boy on 4 baseball teams (3 Travel Teams), 2 basketball teams, Farm w/ cattle, alpacas, and Mini-Donkeys, Wife works 100+ hours as RN (at 3 jobs) - so I do all House and Kid work. 
We are busy - but I wanted something to do in my spare time!

On my way today to a 4 unit sale.  At store at 4:30a, home in a bit to Pressure wash the Cattle trailer in case I need it and off the son and I will go.  We both enjoy Auctions and Selling - he brought in over $800 this weekend at a yard sale in front of our store.  Great bonding time and memories. 

(NOW, if I can just keep my wife from finding out I am buying a locker full of junk!)

I'm pretty sure it's a blow out sale, although Ricky is a licensed auctioneer.
