Title: I H8 PayPal
Post by: Travis on April 03, 2013, 12:24:04 AM
I can't stand PayPal. The buyer is always right. I don't even understand why PayPal asks for your response when someone disputes a credit card charge...they always give them their money back.

It's ridiculous, it's like they don't even read your response.

A customer of mine filed a dispute with their credit card company. I called the customer and it was just a mistake. He saw a charge from PayPal and didn't realize that they process our credit card payments. I responded to the PayPal claim and let them know that I spoke with the buyer and it was all just a mistake. 10 days later I get the following email:

Your buyer filed a chargeback with their credit card company asking to
reverse the above payment. Although your buyer reversed this payment, we
want to work with the buyer's credit card company to get your money back.
We are using the information you sent us to dispute the reversal.

Please note that because the buyer already reversed the payment, it has
been removed from your PayPal balance. The settlement fee the credit card
company charged for the reversal was also deducted from your account.  If
the credit card company decides the case in your favor, this money will be
credited back to your PayPal balance.

Keep in mind that the credit card company determines the timeframe and
outcome. It may take up to 75 days for the credit card company to reach a
final decision. We will email you once they complete their investigation.

I don't get it. All they have to do is pick up the phone and call the buyer. Instead, they deduct the money before they have even investigated anything. Not only that, they charge me a $20 penalty like I had something to do with.

This is kind of like sending someone to prison before the crime has been investigated.

Yet you keep using PayPal..........

Does anybody really like PayPal?  It's like a necessary evil for online sellers!

I loved paypal when they first came out.  Now, IMO they are just to big and no longer customer friendly.  Once ebay bought them out years ago it all started to go down hill.  That said - they are the only option you have really for ebay.

At least in the credit card sector you know have square or the paypal swipe to accept CCs at the flea.  I myself prefer square.

I would have already switched but I'm trapped since my business has hundreds of recurring monthly payments.

I use paypal and I don't have any of those types of issues. If I switch, it'll be because of the fees.. which are kind of ridiculous.

Well, if you sell tangible products you have a chance of recovering your money. If you sell an intangible service like mine, you're pretty much screwed since it's not covered under seller protection. If your service is intangible, PayPal looks at it like you didn't really lose anything. When, in actuality, a lot of time and money goes into providing our service.

So that's why the craigslist prostitutes don't accept PayPal!   :-[
