There are several ways that Estate Sales are run. Items are marked with a selling price, and if you want an item you usually pick it up and carry it with you until you are ready to check out.  If you do not want to pay the marked price, some companies accept Bids.

Mostly Craigslist but have a few estate liquidation companies that I watch. Occasionally find them just by seeing a sign. Sometimes those are the best ones.

In my opinion estate sales are overpriced yard sales in my area. "tag" sales can be fun I always offer half of the asking price on something I want, most of the time they take any offer.

I like estate sales. I normally don't plan on going just see them when driving around on weekends and will stop in but on occasion I'llcheckout the various websites that list all the estate sales in an area. Thats kind of nice as you can generally kind of preview items online to see what type of stuff they have and if its worth goign.
