Title: Missed Picks
Post by: Travis on March 24, 2014, 03:34:32 AM
The other day, as my wife arrived home from the grocery store, she said "I think one of the neighbors is having an estate sale." I said "let's go check it out." Since it was late in the day, most of the good stuff had been sold. However, there was a grandfather clock that needed TLC. The cabinet was in good shape, but the side glass was broken and the weights/pendulum had been removed.

The brand Howard Miller sounded familiar, but it didn't strike me as a quality piece. I asked the lady how much she wanted for it. Her response: $75. I told her I would do some research on it and get back with her shortly. When I got home, I got sidetracked and totally forgot to look it up. Next day, I looked it up. Turns out that the low end Howard Miller grandfather clocks are selling between $800-1000.  :-[  The worst part about it, the lady was only there for one day.

Memo book or make a note with an alarm on your smart phone. Everywhere I go I have access to a memo book and pen.

I'll try to remember to do that.   ;)
