Title: Ranch Sale #1...junk and treasures
Post by: MovieMan on June 04, 2013, 09:33:15 AM
Recently I went to a ranch sale (May 29,2013) and got there about 2 pm on its first day. There was a ton of stuff and only about 5 people wandering around. I only bought a couple of things that first day, but went back the next day and made a couple of major scores as they had brought more stuff out...sometimes it pays to go late !

The pictures below were taken the 2nd day
.

Why did this guy need 200 screwdrivers shown above?

No kitchen sinks, but plenty of bathroom sinks.

Need a bolt?

How about a jack?

There were twice this many chain saws on the first day.

I use to be the guy out there at 5am signing up on the list at estate sales or waiting an hour for them to open.
Then I learned that the others doing that and myself were looking for totally opposite items.
I'm sure I've lost out on occasion but over all its not worth my time.

I tend to go a couple hours after opening then return on the 50% off day.

Things are cleared out and scattered so easier to go thru.  It's cheaper.  They are willing to 'deal'
And.....like you said.....they put more crap out!

Took a year before a company told me this!   See that locked room?  It's not the stuff the family wants to keep.   It's stuff to be put out so there are good items the whole weekend.

Judging from the pictures, it looks like the owner bought storage units.   :D

I can understand a tool obsession. My wife calls me a tool hoarder. I rarely sell the tools I find in units. They usually go in my barn and sit there until I have time to put them in their final resting place. I have lots of tools that I don't even know what they do. I keep them because I might need them for something one day.   ;D

I went to a ranch sale (as we call them here in central California) in mid-June and just found the pics.

This is the second sale (not same location) for summer, 2013.

These pics were taken the 2nd day and are shown here just for showing barn size mostly.
Lots of stuff in out buildings and in the main house.

Here are pics of a ranch sale I went to Saturday, August 31, 2013.

This is the THIRD ranch sale for summer, 2013. All have proved profitable.

LOTS OF STUFF...and lots of junk.

Main building was about 200 x 75.  Prices all over the place. I got there day 2 of three and did OK but wish
I had known about it a day earlier.

Scroll down through multiple posts for total of 12 pics.

This actually looks like a great sale. I know I would have been buying there as well.

Yep, it was a good one and there have been two more since at different locations. Here are the links.

Man alive - wish we had something like that.  I'd spend a few hours going over all of it and return on the last day for super deals.
