Sentimental Pricing

Do you find that family members price things that are sentimental higher, and if so, how do you deal with that?

I think this is an interseting topic as I run into this alot. I think most important thing to do is not offend anyone ie this piece of crap is not worth $100. I'll simply tell or even show people about comparables or I'll tell someone I'm looking to resell this I have to have some room to make money. My favorite line is this is what its worth to me. Basically tell people look if your willing to sit on this item for 6 monhts, spend time posting it alll over, show a number of people and find the perfect buyer for this maybe, just maybe you'll get that price, its worth such and such to me for this reason I got cash what do you wanna do.

If it's something I'm seriously interested in, I may haggle a bit or combine and try and get a good group price. But more often, I'll just walk away. That sort of person is very hard to get to budge.

It really depends on how keen I am on getting my hands on the item. If I could live without it, then I’d rather walk away because such a person is very persistent with his/her stand. However, if I think my mind will not be at ease going home without the item, then I’d probably give in to his/her demand but not without some heavy negotiation skills.
