The Treasure Chest / Diamond Ring
« on: December 17, 2010, 10:40:18 PM »
Bought a unit 10 x 10 on Tuesday. Had some furniture and a bed, couch, love seat, dresser, 2 chest of drawers, desk, shelf and about 14 boxes. Auction was early 8:30am and the only ones there were the old timers. It was only a mile from my house and the first in a long line of auctions that day but only one unit at this place, kind of out of town. I paid $65 for the unit. I have already cleared over $250 on the furniture and still have microwave basically a whole apartment, kitchen stuff pots pans, all kinds of stuff. But the best part was in a glass box candle holder i opened and there was a diamond ring. 10k gold with 3 rows of diamonds. 9 diamonds in each row and there were 2 of them missing, so 25 diamonds total. Gonna take it around and see what I can get on Monday.

Reality Shows about Storage Auctions / Season Finally of Auction Hunters
« on: December 14, 2010, 10:08:12 PM »
Amen to that. Glad to see it go. Although I enjoy watching it, the neg outweigh the positives. I was at an auction this morning with 2 units and there was almost 100 people there. Most of them had no intention of buying anything. I scored the first unit for $15 cause there was a lot of stuff to move. Nobody wants to work, they all want the units with boxes full of gold bars and guns or hidden cars. It's crazy, half the people there are driving Nissan Sentras and Honda Civics so you don't have to worry about them bidding on most units. They all have the flashlight and lock, like the show told them to bring though, lol. I'm just over it. Ready for them to all forget about it and get caught up in the next reality series, maybe they can run with the bulls or do demolition derby or something for a while....

New to Storage Auctions? / My First Haul
« on: December 05, 2010, 10:11:52 PM »
I didn't find any cars, gold nuggets, or diamond rings, lol. But I think I did pretty good for my first run. I paid $33 for my first unit, the $3 was a 10% fee charged by the facility which discouraged a lot of folks from bidding on high priced units. Anyway, I got a nice full size bed and frame, 2 washers, 2 dryers, and an older big screen TV. I sold the big screen first for $50. There was a 2005 model Frigidaire set of washer dryer that worked perfect and looked brand new after I hit it with windex. Sold that for $150. Sold the older Kenmore dryer for $65 and kept the Full bed til I find a queen. We sold our King and want a queen. Anyway. Thats $265. I had to haul off 2 couches and an old crappy tv stand. Didn't have to pay to dump them, no charge for pick up truck. The other washer didn't work so junked it. Spent about $10 in gas. Did everything myself in 1 day. So for first one not to bad, cleared $222. One guy bid against me but bailed quick. Most folks were scared of the work involved. While that was all going on, my ebay business made about $200 for the day without me being there, so I think this will be a good 2nd thing for me besides ebay. I sold everything on Craigslist within 2 days.
