keep a good auction face and don't show weakness XD lol. I always just talk about the units and how much i might think they should go for or what they might go far depending on the size of the crowd and new people.

take a chance on little cheap lockers alot more...like $10- $100 and see what you find. your not taking a huge risk and usually get your money back. also IMO don't get a unit full of furniture try to go with minimal furniture and many many boxes for the wow factor IMO. Not always gonna be a wow factor or rare items but its a fun mystery.

I have been really thinking lately.... I wanna know how you guys do in winter since yard sales, garage sales and such aren't prevalent.

It doesn't happen very often, but its all legal that they didn't get it back...they had until the bidding stopped. plus 3-4months beforehand. As most Storage facilities give you break after break on paying your unit until its out of hand and they need room for more renters to come in.

Northern Michigan...where abouts in that area? I definetly like talking to other buyers at auctions even if your competition =)

Also on another note I really disliked the fact that they left clothes in all the pieces of furniture and trash here and there so it took forever to clean out....definetly need to learn a little more...

Stories about Storage Auctions / Trashy unit =(

I bought 10x10 unit the other day for $345. It was my first and I will definetly learn from it. bought from where i was standing I saw about 25 boxes 5 dressers an older freezer, washer and dryer an Xbox and some other misc.  I ended getting a lkr that was just full of stuff someone just stashed in there without organizing. I ended up finding food and spices still in 1 kitchen cabinet and in a garbage bag.. :-\ and it also had too many vhs tapes and scratched up dvds that werent fixable. But on the bright side I sold the washer and dryer right away for $175 to a friend some of the furniture was antique so i had a guy come pick it up for $130. sold some of the crap furniture that was in very used condition and knick knacks at a yard sale and made $75. I did find some rare items such as a Howard Miller mantle clock worth $60 in its condition, An etched marble art piece (framed) worth $115. I Still have a dresser to sell and some odds and ends stored away for now.

I have been in the storage auction scene for about two months now. I live in Muskegon, MI and attended my 2nd auction last week and bought my first unit for $345. Very exhilarating. I had some guy talking to me after i bought it and he called me his hero for the day for my pokerface when bidding lol! I know people don't like it but i started because of seeing Storage wars and such..but I have always gone to yard sales, used craigslist, ebay and thrift stores so I figure I should move on to better things such as storage auctions.

Also if you can't tell I really think my favorite character out of any show is Randy from My name is earl haha lol...

Anyone else in the Muskegon/ Grand Rapids area?
