That is a cool painting however.  I'd most likely of kept in and hung it on the wall with my beach/ocean paintings.

I second this, that is a cool painting. If you appraise it and its not worth a bundle, maybe we can work something out?

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Email from Storage Auction Talk?
« on: November 03, 2011, 10:06:14 PM »
Yes I am aware that this was sent out today. Apparently they had rummaged through some of the members email addresses on here and spammed you! If you wish to hide your email address to the public you can do so in your profile.

There is only 1 Storage Auction Forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

haha

Anyways feel free to check it out or others and I think youll find that this forum has the most storage auction related content out there, due in part to the fact that we were around before all the tv shows!! :o None of the others can say that. This forum was truly made for the storage auction go'ers by a storage auction go'er! Not for any source of income or advertising or what not! So I hope you all enjoy it!

Good stuff there Drew, trust me this will be the only storage related site I frequent. Keep it up!

General Storage Auction Talk / Email from Storage Auction Talk?
« on: November 03, 2011, 03:34:42 PM »
I know this thread should be in the Plug section, but I figured it would get more traffic here. Has anyone gotten an email from Storage Auction Talk? Here's a copy of the email:

"Hey I saw that you were a member of another storage auction website and I wanted to let you know that we are in the process of opening a new forum/community for all auction hunters.   Our official opening date will be Dec 1st 2011 but we are open now while we beta test different aspects of the site.  We will be rolling out some pretty cool features from Classifieds, Arcade Games, Contest and Point Sytems to Auction List.  I hope you take the time to stop by the site and sign up.  We are also looking for some people to help run this website.. please send Junkman a PM from the site if you are interested.

PS: We are giving away $50 for the user with the most post for the month of November."

I cant decide how I feel about them raiding our member base for email addresses, but our very own TClane is a member. If not condemned to bastard status, its another avenue I suppose.

eBay / Helpful tips/links
« on: November 02, 2011, 03:36:32 PM »
I just recently started selling on ebay, and by no means am I an expert with 12 feedback, but I ran across two links that I think could help others.

The first one being this: skipmcgrath.com/auction_sr/77-tips-tools-selling-ebay.shtml

And the second one is a 'calendar' of sorts, showing the best duration of auction time in accordance to the day you are starting it on:  auctionbytes.com/cab/pages/calendar

I have just started selling clothes on ebay, specifically coats and winter stuff. Things that would go for $3-5 at a yard sale can be turned into 20 or 30 on ebay. Same goes for holiday decorations and the like. If you save stuff like that up for the right time of the year, it seems a person could make a bundle!

Feel free to add.

What's it Worth?? / Re: Antique Mirror Set
« on: November 01, 2011, 03:32:41 AM »
That thought had crossed my mind, so I took to your search results, and this is what makes me think:

http://static.auctionservices.com/images/12427539/IMG_2776_large.JPG

They are what appear to be the exact same initals, but a completely different style. I've also found pieces very similar to mine with different sets of initals, so I think you are right.

Most of the ones with these fancy initals are some form of silver, mine couldnt possibly be with the wear on the hand mirror could it?

Anyways, thanks money4nothing!

eBay / Re: This is what's so great about ebay!!!

I have quickly rose from 0-10 feedback in a week or two, with both buying and selling things. So far so good but I will be wary of the things posted here.

What's it Worth?? / Antique Mirror Set
« on: October 31, 2011, 10:45:17 AM »
I recently came across an antique mirror set, and have had zero luck finding it online through google or ebay. Its a 3-piece set, and the only thing I have to go on are the letters "EGJ" on the back of the hand mirror.

Here are the three pieces, not sure what the large circle mirror would be called.

The letters "EGJ"

A brush that has the words "Clothes Brush" so obviously a brush for clothes?

Thats all I got guys, thanks in advance for any help.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: refinishing furniture
« on: October 31, 2011, 08:57:23 AM »
To expand on this, people who do it regularly, could you give a 'step by step' proccess? I have a cheap kitchen table right now, that if in good condition, could possibly fetch 40 or 50 bucks. It has what looks like cat scratches all over it, and im wondering if my only option is to sand/gloss/re-paint, or if I could just use spray paint to cover it up and have it look decent enough to sell.

I have no experience refinishing furniture, so any advice would be helpful. To bigbizz I'm sure as well.

eBay / Re: Frustrated
« on: October 30, 2011, 03:31:56 PM »
I just recently started selling on ebay and have had a mostly positive experience. Although I think I've been 'cheating' USPS. I usually set my shipping for $5, the small flat rate box, and have sent a WIDE variety of box sizes under that label with no issues so far. After reading moviemans post though, I think I will try the calculated shipping on a few of my listings.

A good point was made with the exposure that ebay has, and certain specialty items are great for ebay and maximizing the profits of a person who buys storage lockers.

Considering I havent found any of the 5 things listed, I'll take them all.  :P

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: who has yard sales..?
« on: October 22, 2011, 08:53:39 PM »
I have had a few, My husband had never done one, So his first he was so impressed that people paid him to take his stuff away. LOL I would wait until the first weekend of the month weather permitting. I priced my things to make them walk away. Any thing with a power cord $5.00 and up. ect. If you just want it gone price low, If you want a little profit price average. Depends on your location. Set out as much as you can on tables or two saw horses with wood. If you use a table you don't want to sell cover it with a sheet like a table clothe, because their is always someone who wants to buy what is not for sale. Our front porch furniture. Check out the flea market thread can get some pointers from there too. Go to a few and see how they are doing it. Hope that helps Good luck.

All of this sounds spot on, but something to add: 'Advertise' your yard sale through free outlets like craigslist/flyers on community boards. If you have enough merchandise you may want to consider paying for an ad in your local paper.

Filing Cabinets ?   when I won the locker full of them ( I wasn't bidding on it , it ended up being a package deal of 3 X 30 ft. lockers for $ 185 ) I couldn't give them away .
The Fri.  I posted them on Craig's , a   nationwide mortgage company in the area closed there doors , and offered all there furniture, 4 floors full  for FREE ( No Computers ) and would assist You in loading it just show up Sat. between 9 to 4 .    >:(
What friends didn't want , I ended up scrapping ( My locker was located next to a scrap yard LOL )
Bandit

A 4 drawer cabinet can turn into $30 bucks pretty quickly here. But I am also in a military town, so items that people in other parts of the country will throw/give away (mattresses/box springs/old tvs) is a pretty fast profit here.

Nice pic, hope you make profit. I whiffed on a locker with 20+ filing cabinets last week. Went for $60 bucks, they sell like hot cakes on craigs.
