Well the minimum wage is defiantly not worth it. Don't think I have made minimum wage sense I was 15. We want discuss how long ago that was.  :)  Worth a shot while you finish school. I cleaned houses 4 days a week and went to school 3. I was much older than you when I went to school but making more money on a part time basis is the way to go. (Grammar was not my strong subject, To the regulars on here  :o)

storagetreasures is good. They offer a list of auctions for different places, not just one auction company. they do list some without auctioneers. Good place to start. But also look in the legal notices, you will get more information there. We have done our best with the auctions without auctioneers. Sometimes you don't know which ones they are until you show up. But go to as many as you can you learn a lot by just being there. (if you pay attention in class)  :D

If I were you I would plan your buying a locker around your school schedule. Buy one on a Friday so you have the weekend to get all the work done. It is part time but when you buy one non stop work until you get it loaded sorted and then selling. We spent 2.5 days on the last two we bought. Just a thought and good luck.

Well I'm attending class online right now.  I switched from campus since I did an internship with Disney World last year.  I haven't reapplied for my campus since all my online classes are going really well, and I like the flexibility.  Therefore I can pretty much do auctions/loading/unloading/selling whenever since I have no set schedule, just deadlines to when my schoolwork has to be done.  :)

Welcome to the Storage Auction forums.  Make yourself at home.  I'm new myself, and everyone here has been very friendly and helpful so far.  :)  I wish you the best of luck in your area, and hope you find some awesome treasures!

So what do you think you are worth???? ;D
More than just above minimum wage with no room for advancement, that's for sure.  I'm a true young gun.  Working on my degree in Information System Security, Bachelor level, and working part-time at a dead-end job while I work through school.  I mean...if I'm working through school, may as well try and make enough money to make it worth my time and effort.  Heh. I'm only 24 years old.

Yeah, like I said, I saw the auctionstorage site, and saw Tammie does all the auctions in my area.  So I'll probably just be going out that one day a month for now, but hitting every single auction she goes to.  She's got about 15-20 different places listed for the whole day, from Brandon to Ruskin is the one sector, it would appear.  Then she has another one with Tampa, Lutz, Land o Lakes, and Wesley Chapel, which is a bit farther than what I want to drive for right now, till I scope things out and see how she is as an auctioneer.  I'm also a member or storagetreasures, but I have no idea who the auctioneer is for them, that does the Tampa area auctions, so I may attend a few of those as well.  I'll let you know my progress after the date of.  :)

Welcome fellow Floridian.

The Auctioneer you are using is ok. Nyle Wells does most of ours. Don't care for him to much. Last Auction he spent 15 minutes advertising an Auction in Orlando. We had to stand there and listen before he got started with the auction. And he is usually late. Hopefully Tammie will be beter.

So you want to get out of customer service?  "I hate dealing with multitudes of people every day"[/b]
How do you plan on selling the goods out of your lockers?
And attending Auctions there are all kinds of people, The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly.

Good luck

You forgot to read the rest of my sentence.  I said when I am making barely enough to survive.  If the money is good, then I'm all for it.  If I'm not being paid what I think I'm worth, then it's not worth doing.  It's going to be different with this, since I will be my own boss.  Heh.  I will definitely let you know how she is.  :)  Thanks for the welcome.

Hello all, the name is Allan.  I've been watching all of Glendon Cameron's videos on youtube for awhile now, as well as personal storage auction videos from amateurs.  I also bought his ebook and have read it all.  I'm really interested in buying/selling storage lockers for multiple reasons.

1.  Growing up, my dad and I used to be antique collectors, but old school antique collectors, like abandoned old houses, or landfills, digging them up with shovels and other tools and collecting bottles and coins.  We also used to collect all kinds of stamps.  We stopped doing that when we relocated from NY to FL though.  Now I'm looking to get into something new, for the thrill of the hunt, and to see what I find.  The saying goes : You gotta spend money to make money.  Unfortunately, my seed money is pretty low, so I'm not expecting to get anything, at first.  I also don't have enough resources to know where to find EVERY auction.  Have to build connections and network first.  This is the resource I'm using currently.  Can any of you Veterans tell me if it's pretty legit?  auctionstorage.com/NewBuyers.aspx  Tammie seems to be the Auctioneer who does all the auctions in my area.

2.  I want to get out of Customer Service.  I hate dealing with multitudes of people every day, when I'm barely making enough to survive.  I want a higher income, as well as want to be my own boss eventually and have the freedom to travel  and hunt lkrs with the best of them.

So, that's my introduction.  I've been lurking here without an account for 2 weeks now.  I plan on attending my first auctions on the 20th of this month, but only have about 500 in seed money.  So we shall see what happens.  I'm jumping in headfirst.  If the price is right, I'm no lookie-loo.  Look forward to talking with you all.

Another Tampa Floridian?!?!  I'm not alone.  Luckily and unluckily, you are not into storage auctions, and that's basically what I'm starting with.  Going to my first auctions on the 20th, from Tampa to Ruskin, so we'll see how it goes.  Hoping to pick up 1 or 2 lockers for around 500 dollars or so.  :)  If you are ever interested in going around, I've been looking for resources to find where auctions are at.
