How could a website do illegal things to a site like this? I guess I'm confused because I thought this was mostly a forum for like-minded people to give advice to one another.

I checked Inside Self Storage, which I was told was sort of the go-to site to find out about this sort of thing, and you're right. Maybe they didn't want to lose advertising revenue or something? Anyway, I need to find other sites to use. I'm not going to even think about going to a live auction with the weather we've been having in NY.

Thanks Travis. I think the CEO was pretty flippant when it came to his company casually jeopardizing customers' private information. I'm really new to online storage auctions, and I'm really starting to get into them. For me, the security of my personal information is paramount. I've only won two auctions so far, but in the future I won't ever be bidding on that site.

That picture is great. I'm not going to use iBid, but I heard that StorageBattles was guilty of really unsettling privacy and security compromises. Can anyone tell me more about that? I'm not going to risk my private information being given to a site that has no regard for how important that information is.

I was curious when I saw this post, so I went to the site to find out more. Right under "Register Today", I clicked on "Read More" and the site just took me to a blank page. Doesn't seem like they have their stuff together. No thanks.

What about electronics? I saw a unit online that was filled w/ hard drives and computer screens. All the stuff looks pretty modern (but it's tough to pinpoint the exact year). The unit is filled with all this stuff, but will it sell?

Hey everybody! So I won my first auction a few days ago, and I think I've caught the bug (time will tell I guess). I wanted to ask: what are items that I should look for in a storage auction? What are things that will always sell? No joke responses please (e.g. look out for diamonds encased in emeralds...) Thanks!

Yah, I definitely can't do eBay, way too big. I'll hold out for craigslist. Still pretty excited to have won my first auction, I expect to make a profit.

Craigslist / Trying to sell vintage speakers on Craigslist

I just won an auction in Rochester. In the unit there are several large, vintage speakers. I don't know what category on Craigslist to post these speakers. I tried electronics, but that's not really the category that would work. Any suggestions? The speakers work, and they look pretty cool.
