Thank heavens that the owners of the self storage facility are not held liable for the creeps and weirdos who utilise our services and inhabit our units. I would dread to think about how we would handle things if we had to include a screening program for every single customer that walks through our doors. How many customers would be left if we had to do a full identity check I wonder...

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: What items to look for?
« on: May 15, 2017, 02:27:54 AM »
I think you get better at it with experience. Every person will have an expertise at appraising certain items and you should use that to your advantage. I would say that as the new kid on the block you might need to scout the people around you before you start bidding too otherwise you might end up getting bid up by the other more  veteran storage hunters that are at the auction with you. Good luck!

this is interesting news. It'll be interesting to see how the precedents here are going to stream down to other online storage auctions or physical storage auction events in other places across the world. It sounds like it's going to be quite a fair amount of reading to do to catch up with what's going to change though so here's hoping there'll be some summary of the changes coming up in the next few weeks for us to get acquainted...

eBay / Re: Getting your first neg feedback is actually very freeing!!!

I really hate it when customers extort from sellers by using a negative feedback as a weapon. It is true that you would definitely feel less burdened when you do not care too much. The feedback system is there only as a guideline and should not take a toll on you until the extent of giving in to absurd customers’ requests. Buyers these days are smart enough to know which to believe and which to ignore in terms of analyzing a seller's reputation.

From a business perspective, I’d say there isn’t any impact but it does provide a guideline to storage facility owners on what the next course of action would be should their renters default on their payments. From a renter’s point of view however, perhaps they will be more watchful of their monthly payment deadlines so as not to lose their belongings through an auction.

That was a fun show to watch! Storage wars was a pretty good one as well. Can't beat what we're really facing on a day to day basis, but a good show to kick back and laugh with when we recognize the things that are happening are legitimately happening in real life too haha!

The first few seasons of storage wars was interesting and exciting, but now it's really just getting quite stale and boring. The story line is really not believable anymore and the characters…. Well, not much development going on now. Doesn't help especially after all that hooha about things being staged..
