Haven't got a unit in a couple of months. It's getting really crazy around here. Even at the local auction houses its getting nuts. Went to a caravan last week. Prices were through the roof. a 5x10 unit with a broke church pew, a particle board dresser, and a ripped up couch went for $525. Also a 5x10 with 2 totes, and a computer monitor went for $600.

I was at an auction house last year and there were slides with bodies, severe injuries and the like. Probably from the 60s-70s. About 50 slides per box. Ended up going for around $75 a box. One went for $300 for the box. So there is profit there!

went to a caravan on Tuesday with 5 facilities. Around 30 some units. Between 25 and 25 people per location. Prices were decent with 2 going really high. A newbie was bidding on those. I ended up getting one for $17 (nobody wanted it because it looked like all office paper) and one for $50.

I knew there was money to be made on the $17 one when I saw totes and boxes full of college textbooks. Already tripled my money on them and still have a ton to go. Found a box full of playboys as well which I sold for $1 a piece to a guy at work.

Easy now.

Anyways hitting up a single auction tomorrow with 6 units so far. Hopefully the crowds thin down for good around here. It just gets a little frustrating when it takes 20-25 minutes to look at a locker because people have to wheel their strollers in front of it. I'm sure your 4 month old son knows whats in those boxes.

Went on a caravan in south central PA today. The first 2 locations were cancelled. The third location had 5 units. I figured it being a city, there would be a ton of people. Lately it has been around 175-200. It was only about 50-60 people with 5 or 6 bidders. I didnt get anything there. The prices seemed high on the first 2 lockers but the other 3 were alright. The last one had some really nice high end furniture, a double door fridge, and some glass cabinets and that went for $875.

The second location had 36 people (girlfriend didnt believe there was that many, so I counted). Only 1 unit. A really small one with 8 boxes and some cans of paint. I got it for $10. So far found some really nice clothes which I'll end up taking to the consignment store. Also a lot of paintings and pictures of lions and tigers.

After that I quit as the other locations were 2 hours away with 1 unit each. Surprising, but it seems that it slowing down a little bit here.

I have bought units before that had trash in them. I bought a unit for $15 at one auction and there was a trash bag full of condiments in jars. Talk about disgusting.

yes wear gloves! You never know what kind of disgusting crap you will come in contact with. I check every pocket, birthday card, and book. The last unit I purchased had $12 in pockets. I have also found units with money in birthday cards. And as far as books, I flip through them all. I found a 1963 red seal $2 as a book mark one time.

On that note, there is a local lady who buys lockers and takes the contents right to the auction. She rarely looks through everything. Anyways I was at an auction talking to her while the auctioneer was selling her box lots. He sold the box for $30 I believe. He bought it himself. Turns out there was $500 in cash in one of the books. That lady was pissed to say the least.

I got 3 units my first time out. But you have to keep in mind this was 7 years ago, in a small town, and there were about 4 people there. Now it seems a lot different.
