Stories about Storage Auctions / furniture/african culture unit =D
« on: July 23, 2012, 01:25:25 AM »
A few days ago i finally got back into buying up storage units, well one storage unit at least lol. Anyway it was at a local Muskegon, MI storage space. The auction had 3 units, 1 of which was a junk one that went for $40 or so. another with some nice stereo equipment for concerts and the like. (2 large speakers and and cd/recievers). this unit also had misc furniture and a couple boxes. it ended up going for $350. Next came the last unit which had, some furniture, old wooden style tv (wow thats old) and some 10 odd boxes. This was my unit and i ended up spending $160.

contents:
lots of crystal glass/lead crystal- not yet priced out
african unity carved 7 head piece- looks to be $138 brand new-definetly won't get more than $60
some other odds/ends of hand carved african oddities-not yet priced
skybar wine opener-$15-20-its in mint shape with everything
bunch of knick knacks (some rare some dollar store =D )-not yet priced
nice dining table with four chairs-maybe $75-100
nice metal with glass end table- $50
lots o' towels-will definetly be used to clean items and help clean my vehicles that i flip for profit =D
heavy ceramic and very nice elephant vase-don't know what to price it
hollywood bedframe w/headboard and mattress-$40
plastic shelving unit-can always use one of those
misc kitchen and bathroom items-yard sale/garbage lol

This was a nice storage rental building and very helpful in the cleaning process. It took me and my dad maybe 4-5hours and we could dump the garbage on site. they also had carts to lug furniture around on and they even sweeped up the unit for me (:, needless to say i will be bidding here again!

here is a picture of the 7 headed carving from africa

Stories about Storage Auctions / Trashy unit =(
« on: July 20, 2011, 11:29:16 PM »
I bought 10x10 unit the other day for $345. It was my first and I will definetly learn from it. bought from where i was standing I saw about 25 boxes 5 dressers an older freezer, washer and dryer an Xbox and some other misc.  I ended getting a lkr that was just full of stuff someone just stashed in there without organizing. I ended up finding food and spices still in 1 kitchen cabinet and in a garbage bag.. :-\ and it also had too many vhs tapes and scratched up dvds that werent fixable. But on the bright side I sold the washer and dryer right away for $175 to a friend some of the furniture was antique so i had a guy come pick it up for $130. sold some of the crap furniture that was in very used condition and knick knacks at a yard sale and made $75. I did find some rare items such as a Howard Miller mantle clock worth $60 in its condition, An etched marble art piece (framed) worth $115. I Still have a dresser to sell and some odds and ends stored away for now.

Welcome to the Online Storage Auctions Forum / Hello From Michigan
« on: July 20, 2011, 10:43:57 PM »
I have been in the storage auction scene for about two months now. I live in Muskegon, MI and attended my 2nd auction last week and bought my first unit for $345. Very exhilarating. I had some guy talking to me after i bought it and he called me his hero for the day for my pokerface when bidding lol! I know people don't like it but i started because of seeing Storage wars and such..but I have always gone to yard sales, used craigslist, ebay and thrift stores so I figure I should move on to better things such as storage auctions.

Also if you can't tell I really think my favorite character out of any show is Randy from My name is earl haha lol...

Anyone else in the Muskegon/ Grand Rapids area?
