today i hesitated to bid on a unit that very well could have been the jackpot all cus there where 2 mattresses and this auction was quite a ways away from my house, there was a trek mountain bike that i know retails for about 700 an army bag that clearly said 1912 and very sturdy pastic bins with straps this was indoors and it went for 200 it was a steal but i hesitated cus of the mattresses.

so the question is , has anyone else hesitated as they where fairly new to the scene?

« on: October 16, 2011, 03:08:11 PM »
i live in austin and went to a saturday auction and there was a large croud of maybe 60-75 but to my suprize everyone was resonable about bidding and no one was going off the gamble like ive been seeing. out of 15 units all fairly good not one went over 225$ bucks it was like god sent a message to people to not be stupid and blow money out the ass cus they think theyre gonna find a secret stash of gold.

General Storage Auction Talk / I know there is ......
« on: September 28, 2011, 03:45:45 AM »
i know there is a section for ways to sell stuff but...... not enough people post in there.
in the austin area (texas) craigslist hasn't been working out so good and ebay sucks with all their fee's and not everything can be sold there.

i have had my best luck with antique flea markets to get rid of specific house ornaments and expensive things and for low end stuff and clothing i go to a Latin flea market.

my problem is flea markets are only on the weekends and i need to be flipping merchandise sooner than later.

anyone have ideas besides online sites and craigslist?

Greatly appreciate for any feedback.

New to Storage Auctions? / Was this a one time deal? or my noob mistake?
« on: September 16, 2011, 03:01:33 AM »
so i went to a packrat storage auction and right off the bat i see a 150 gallon fish tank and compound bow and some antiques in the corner along with very large mirrors. needless to say i came in with the tactics of wanting to wait for the bidder to say going once going twice and then id come in and start bidding instead of going against several bidders at once and avoid racking up the price even more.
anyway as i waited for that going once going twice the auctioneer didnt say the words i was waiting for and said sold , the unit sold for 200 bucks ( super clean and profitable unit)
i was thoroughly upset that i lost out on this one but my question is has this ever happened to you?
is this a common thing for them to say going once going twice or was this a big noob mistake?

thank you ???
