Other Forms of Selling / Bonanza
« on: July 09, 2011, 06:06:43 AM »
Hi,
I've been listing items on Bonanza.com, so far I've sold 3 items since 6-16-2011.  It might not seem like much, but I don't have too many items listed yet.  It reminds me of Ebay years ago!  Here's their fees:  FOV (Final Offer Value) under $500 is 3.5% of FOV.  FOV greater than $500 is $17.50 + 1.5% of the amount over $500.  $0.50 cent minimum fee.  There are no listing fees or buyers premiums.

Hope this helps!  Healthe :)

Hi jrossjr79,
Thanks for sharing!  I printed your information out and when I get the furniture cleared out of our garage, I may use some of your ideas.  I really appreciate it!  Healthe

Hi Everyone,
I've been taking some time off buying to organize my home.  The basement and garage were full from buying at storage auctions.  It been taking me some time to clean it all out to make room for more!  I'm curious, how do you all keep on top of this, so your place doesn't look like you're a "hoarder"?  Any suggestions for organizing?  Thanks!  Healthe

Hi Ironman,
Sorry I didn't see this question until now.  I'm in the Central Michigan area.  Healthe

Great deal on your units!  Keep us posted on what you find.  You never know.  Healthe :)

Wow, Ironman!  That was a good sale!  It's starting to get warm around here, so maybe we'll have some outdoor flea markets opening up soon.  How much do they charge in your area to rent a space?  Healthe

Mid West / Re: Auctions in Michigan today
« on: April 02, 2011, 07:29:55 PM »
Hi,
Went to another auction today out of town.  There were 4 units for sale and 30 people in attendance.  The manager at this storage facility opened all the doors and everyone was able to go into the units and open up boxes and bags to look at all the contents before bidding.  (First time I've seen that before.)  There was a Lazyboy chair and couch in really bad shape that went for $25, another unit with stained mattresses, beat up dresser and bags of clothes for $10, another unit had a toy box, beat up couch and bags of clothes for $60 and the last one went for $185.  I bid $175, but stopped.  It was a 10 x 15 unit with some cheap furniture and lots of boxes.  It was stuffed!  And when some of the people tried to look in the boxes they were falling out of the unit.  Some were empty.  The only reason I bid was because of all the dust and cobwebs!  I wanted to see what was in the back!  But wasn't in the mood to overspend just because I was curious!  Healthe :)

Craigslist / Re: How is Craigslist holding up ?

Hi Movieman,
I was thinking the same thing.  It might be because people were saving for Spring break vacation lately.  Most of my in-laws are going this weekend to Florida & South Carolina with their kids!  Healthe :)

Mid West / Auctions in Michigan today
« on: March 30, 2011, 04:46:18 PM »
I went to 2 different auctions today.  The first one this morning had 3 units.  33 people were in attendance.  They went for $25 (mattress & table), $60 (large couch & loveseat with no cushions) and $200 (bedroom set, dressers & boxes).

The second auction this afternoon had 3 units also.  With 16 people in attendance.  They went for $25 (2 large cabinet TVs with a motorcycle motor?), $175 (couch, loveseat (burn hole), cheap looking dressers, boxes) and $550 (washer, dryer, loveseat, table and U-Haul boxes).  My limit was $300 on the last unit.  So, I came home with nothing today.  But, that's okay.  I'm still trying to clean out our garage from the last units that I bought.

Not that many people today.  These auctions were in a local paper and not listed on-line.  I really think that makes a difference.  Healthe :)

Stories about Storage Auctions / Rumor Has It!
« on: March 30, 2011, 12:11:38 PM »
The rumor going around at the auctions today was that our local storage facilities will be trying to get SOME money from the delinquent tenants and are demanding that they remove their stuff!  So, what little money they get, it will have to do.  The only auctions will be if they are unable to reach the tenant by phone or mail.  Has anyone else heard this???  Healthe :(

eBay / Re: Ebay Started Charging Final Value Fees On Shipping As Well
« on: March 22, 2011, 09:09:26 PM »
Hi,
I just sold something today from my Ebid store.  I quit selling on the site for a year and have just started using it again.  I see that I've been getting more hits than I was last year, so maybe they are doing some more advertising.

In my profile, I give information on my Ebay ID so they can check out my feedback.  I think that helps to sell too!

Hope this helps!  Healthe

eBay / Re: Ebay Started Charging Final Value Fees On Shipping As Well

Hi,
I have not tried webstore, but I have sold a few things on us.ebid.net.  If you sign up for the $49 lifetime fee, your listings are free.  If you post some photos in the Gallery, they charge 2% final fee.

The only drawback is that you have to advertise your own store.  So, I was putting flyers in my packages that I ship out.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Your First Unit Won!?
« on: February 24, 2011, 01:24:28 PM »
Hi,
My first unit I won was a 10x20 that I paid $60 for.  When the doors opened up, my first thought was, "Who in the world would buy all that garbage?"  It was loaded with old broken furniture, mattresses, garbage bags, file cabinets, etc.  Well, the bidding went up to $50.  The auctioneer, said going once, going twice.  And I yelled $60!  I guess I scared everyone else off because I ended up getting it.

It took my husband and I two trips with a 16' U-Haul truck to get it home.  And most of it was garbage.  But, it was loaded with books that I ended up selling on Amazon for close to $2000.  So, I guess you never know what you might find in a heap of garbage!  And I really didn't mind doing the work!  Healthe ;)

Hi,
We have a local auction house that has lots of Sports Cards for sale by individual owners.  They will also ship them to you, if you win the auction.  You might want to check it out from time to time.  Miauctionsales
