General Storage Auction Talk / Re: GETTTING SERIOUS NOW

I have a large quantity of vintage quil pens and other things I hve yet to fully research, but many are trimmed in gold.  My siss looked some up and they were selling for $100-400.   Maybe I will make a couple of hundred from them.

I paid $10 for the unit no one else wanted the unit and it had a chest of drawers and a natural gas heater.

I had another yard sale saturday.

We did pretty well.   $430 this time like $405 last time.

I also went to flea last Wed and made $130.   I haven't bought any units in about a month, and I still have plenty to sell.  I have been going to different auction houses and buying pieces.

I like this idea,  I hope it doesn't replace in person buying.  There nothing better than the rush of being there.

Me and my sister do this together, we each know what the other is sopposed to do and vice versa.    I am the financer, buy the units and I also handle ebay and other computer work, provide the truck, and most of the research.  She does a lot of cleaning, organizing, painting, fixing, clothes washing, and keeping up our antique mall, and she also does some crafts and changing things we find into art.

I just think you each should figure out what your rolls are, and anything extra is just that extra. If it doesn't work out soon for you too maybe you should go your seperate ways.

Honestly,  If you don't want to move "low end crap", or make ads on craigslist or ebay, or do the fleas, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU.

There is usually not enough big ticket items to discard the "CRAP".

You have to make every penny you can to be really successful in this business.

Just my opinion

Garage Sales / First yard sale this year

We had a yard sale at my sisters house, we didn't advertise.   We put up signs around her neighborhood the morning of the yard sale and  by the time we got back to her house people were there. We stayed busy all day.  It was a very pretty day, and people were out in crowds!

We did really well $405.   We plan to have another next weekend or maybe the next.  We sold a ton of clothes!  I was ready to donate them, they are all name brand.  We have plenty more things that we can add to the sale, and maybe some of our furniture too.

You wil not find a auction within 50 miles of downtown with less than 60 people, some of the time 100+.   I attend auctions all over north Georgia, YES all over north Georgia.  I sometimes have travelled 90 miles from home.   The east, southeast, and northeast seem to have less people than anything on the west side.
