I will tell you exactly why someone would put "found in storage unit" on eBay or Craigslist. It's because its a marketing statigy playing off the idea that noobies to storage auctions are stupid and don't know what the items they found inside are worth. So, the seller acts dumb and naive, which by the buyer thinks they have an "edge" of scoring a good/better deal because they think the seller doesn't know it's full value.

Why wouldn't the seller know the full value? Because the seller "appears" to not know what it's really worth, because they bought it in an auction and are "supposedly" not in the business

I have actually seen this work well with baseball cards on eBay. Someone will take a picture of a box of their old cards with PSA graded or the best cards on top. Then say "found in a storage unit" in the advertisement. Even though they did not acquire the cards in a unit it gives the perception to the potential buyer that their is a GREAT deal in front of them. It's an awesome strategy by using reality T.V. To exploit the sellers true business. Just my opinion though.

business.

That and the fact that if you don't plaster "as-is" all over your auction, your buyer could end up screwing you out of your product and requesting their money back from eBay, and they always side with the buyer.

I post it in my titles so I don't have to deal with someone coming back to me and saying omg I found some dust. I've been posting on craigslist lately just because so sick of good stuff going on eBay for a couple of bucks because no one will bid.

I've been searching google, and eBay, but when you don't know what something is called it's super hard.

Ok, I am starting to think this maybe the cream of the crop or at least so far...as I listed it on eBay and it's hit 22 dollars already. This is a ether a silver or nickel jewelry box. Any idea how I can tell? it passed the magnet test, and is NOT magnetic.

Notice the stamp with the T in the bird. I can't find it ANYWHERE.....or any reference to it.

Not a clue on the first one! lol

Second one, holland pewter, can't tell from the picture the size but kinda looks like what they call a "porrige pot".  A serving dish.  I don't know where you are but here Pewter isn't a big seller. Maybe $20?

Want to be very clear.....I had experience in selling stuff like this but in no way am I sure.
Could be totally off. Just giving you a direction to start looking.  <end of disclaimer>.  ;)

That's a $20 bill in my pocket anyday! lol kidding.

I apprciate the help. I will post more tonight, because there are tons more....

Any idea of who I should look for locally on to apprasie the items?

You know what, and that's okay. It is fairly clear I need to get some of these looked at, my question is do you know what type of dish it is?

Also here is the next item I have no idea about:

Now the last picture is the mark, but I can't figure out what type of bowl this is. Thanks for all the help!

So I bought a horder unit in southern NY, and took what I thought was of value and junked the rest, however some of my co workers (my other job) are starting to say that I have some REALLY rare items.

Here is one that I have, and I have no idea what it is let alone what it's made out of. I thought it was porclien but I'm being told it could be crown tusscan?

Here's a picture. I will post more as soon as I can.

Well I went to one auction out of three, and bought one for 190 plus tax. It had three totes a briefcase and some mechanical items (rhino ramps for an sub/truck) and a motomaster board to slide under cars. So I took the gamble. It paid off. One tote had personal effects, which I learned his wife was in jail and sent him lots of love letters, pictures of him with strippers, and a lot of bills.

Second tote had a Boise surround sound system in it, score! Speakers alone (cause the unit is all scratched up) I'm hoping to get at least $100 for as my friend said the system new is like $1000. I haven't done any research on it yet.

Third tote had tons of nascar and car models. Priced at $10 - $50 each! So I've been throwing them on eBay as fast as I can.

The briefcase had tons of drafting tools, pencils, pens, triangles, compasses, etc. No idea how much this is worth.

Also found a gold looking football pin. No idea anything about this ether. I'll post pictures soon.
