LOL

Little rusty on the pricing plus I like the real factor, pictures are hard to go by IMO.  ;D

On second thought probably would not bid on the third one either.

And the second unit yeah I am a little high but I am pretty good at guessing what they will go for which is usually more than I will pay.  ;D

How long do you have to wait after the auction to find out who got it?

Forgot to mention on our silent auction they did not tell the winning bid.  ::) So have no idea how far we were off.

The auction is at 9 and she said she would call winners around 1-2 pm so a little while but not bad.  I think right now im sitting at about 200 on first about 300 on 2nd debating whether to even bid on number 3. Come on guys!! Let's get more opinions out its fun just to see what everyone thinks

really? I thought the first one was the best of the 3, just like you said for the welder/sedaline (sp?) tanks. but then again I hate big furniture. but me and u are close on price for #1 . i was gunna set max at 220 but would be comftorable at your price lol.

as for 2 and 3 I might bid 100 on two just to see the table cuz if its nice its worth it. if not its worth the loss just to see. I probably wont even be bidding on 3. But then again prices might completely change when we see the units in person.

hopefully i get more opinions :/

Hey guys I have been sent 5 pictures of all 3 units available at a silent auction this Saturday. These are directly from the manager and I have a good idea of what I might like to bid on these but wanted some of your opinions as well, because they will be appreciated.

Btw this is a mobile url cuz I did post this with my phone so for best results all you guys with a a smartphone use that lol. If someone knows how to change a mobile url to a regular link send me a pm.

All tips and advice on these units will be appreciated and let the bidding opinions begin lol

General Storage Auction Talk / sealed bid auction...
« on: April 21, 2012, 12:24:21 PM »
Hi all me and my girlfriend will be going to a sealed bid auction next Saturday and I was unsure of the process of this so I asked the manager. She said u come in the office walk with her look at the unit and put a bud in an envelope and she will call u up to 12 hours later if you win.

Any tips or ideas/strategy on how to prevail at these types of auctions ?

She also asked me for my email and said that she would send me pictures of all the units ahead of time. Is that normal? Should I stay away from this place because that seems as though it would ne possible to tamper with them if they've taken pictures

Will try to post pictures asap. But started going through more boxes and found some 7000 and 9000 volt "indoor gaseous tube" transformers by france. Along with a 50+ pound lighting box by a company called voigt lighting industries, and it has a 400 watt metal halide light connected to it. not sure if its worth anything but pretty neat ( and very heavy!)

Stories about Storage Auctions / got a locker today...
« on: April 02, 2012, 07:05:32 PM »
I went to a auction today in tampa about 30 minutes away with the girlfriend. It was just a independent facility. I forget the name but whatever its not important. They had one unit, with about 15-20 people (considered verryyyyy small for this area) Sooooo i expected prices to be through the roof and for someone to over pay by 3 times what i thought it would be worth.

So they open the unit, nothing but boxes from the facility that the tenant had bought and boxed their stuff up with. You could literally not see one thing in it, just boxes. Only thing about the boxes is they were extremely well organzied, stacked neatly, and taken well care of. Alot of signs of respect of ownership, but not much to see in terms of ownership.

Anyways, the auctioneer starts at 200!? no bidders he lowers to 100, and people start walking away laughing that the auctioneer is a joke, but i stuck around. Nobody bid so i said ill give you 25, another to 75, i said 100 and was going to stop. He walked away and i won.

It was a 10x10 about 1/3 full so I figured it was worth the gamble on the type of owner it was. Anywyas first box i go in, there isnt much but at the bottom of the box is a brand new skil saw with tags still sealed in the box. Also 3 Brand new PC games still sealed in the box, I think Civilization 3, call to power, and civilization 3 gold edition.

Next box, again not much, except a HK .40 usp pistol brand new in the gun box.

Next box, HUGE SCORE! Brand new movado watch in the box with tags at a price of 1399.99 a brand new set of dior sunglasses with tags, and louis vuitton hobo style purse brand new with tags still in the dust bag.

next in the back was a big box (only box not from the facility) with a full set of tumi luggage. IF you are unaware tumi luggage is an extremely high end luggage company. I got a full size suitcase, a leather overnight bag, laptop bag, briefcase, and something like a pencil pouch. All a matching set. Still all wrapped in plastic, with the invoice on the box with a total cost of 1432.87.

Also there was box full of 283 cd's some used, some new still wrapped, but still quite good.

A few more odds and ends with 20$ bills there and 30$ bills there.

All in all I stand to make a hugeeeee profit! cant wait! My girlfriend never liked travelling with me to auctions or even going at all for that point, but now she is 100% on board ;)

General Storage Auction Talk / u-haul?
« on: March 27, 2012, 05:18:19 PM »
why does u0haul do their auctions so much differently than the others ive gone to? Well first of all I called the facilities to ask when is your next auction and none of them will tell me and they say to call the corporate office. Then when i call the corporate office they say they cant help me and dont disclose that information. so they wont tell me when theyre auctions are. so i call the auction service itself, and even he wont tell me when their auctions are?! i was dumbfounded by this idea. all he would tell me is his auctions start at 8:30 sharp and gave me the "general" area where the auction is. he wouldnt even give me an address.

At this point i was extremely confused.

So i found the "general" area he was talking about and went. When i got there they had a $250  cleaning deposit and a 12 hour max to clean out the units. AND, on top of all of this, they let people GO INSIDE THE UNIT!?!?

I dont think i will ever deal with uhaul or that auction service ever again. the way they do their business was extremely hard to deal with and very bad customer service/public reltaions imo.

have anybody ever experienced anything like this?

Well I've had 87 people look at it. Can anyone give me some info on it or anyone on here familiar with art that could point me in the right direction.

Would be appreciated thanks everyone

I don't want an auction with a listing of 40+ units. The last one that had that many units, they listed 60, had 200 people show up! I only have around 20-25 regulars max in my metro area so thats a lot of newbies and one-timers, and just like I thought, 90% of the units were won by newbies. The auctioneer for that auction is also known for "staging" units, sending an employee inside the units and calling out the stuff they see, and having a couple of people mixed in to "bid up" the units.

Hence why I said also a worst nightmare lol

14
Are any of you going to the auction on the 24th with 40 plus units up for auction? I think its off of howell mill rd.

I wish we had a facility with that many units!!! But on the other hand attendance is going through the roof and ull need a deep deep deep pocket a few thousand atleast to be safe

Over 40 units is a dream. But also a buyers worst nightmare. Hope all is good for you and good luck

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: caravan (kinda) today
« on: March 15, 2012, 08:06:09 AM »
Sounds like a $3k or higher unit.  I wouldn't of gotten it either as I normally don't carry more then 2k with me.  Rare for a unit to get that high in my parts.  I suspect some people were going in together.  Least I know I'd of quickly hit up my 2 buddies to see if they wanted to do that.

As for the caravan - that is about normal right now.  Out of my 7 facility one last week we only hit 4 locations.  Most of those had 1 or 2 units.  Only one location had 3 units.  Long day for little reward.

Yea can definently asure it was well worth 3k atleast. But as for the cancellations im going to go about 45 minutes north next week. People have been telling me its a lot better with places keeping units so hopefully next week is better
