Sure, there are a LOT of books on Amazon (and elsewhere) about the storage auction business. But I also know this: They're not selling a lot of copies! Check the "Amazon Rank" for any of those books... most are in the range of 300,000-500,000... which is TERRIBLE as far as the number of sales per month. These authors will be lucky to sell 1-2 copies per month. Anything with a sales rank above 100,000 isn't selling many at all. (Amazon rankings go from low to high...)

Not sure what that means, really. A lot of people are interested in the storage auction business... I've written about it myself... but I guess not a lot of people want to read about it. Maybe they're just learning it "on the job"....

Love the idea that reality shows are "real!" (Sarcasm intended....)

Just the basic fact of putting a camera and TV crew into the scene at any event (storage auction, wedding, gathering of housewives, you name it), changes the experience completely. Move everyone wants their "15 minutes of fame" and will do crazy, sometimes stupid things to get it. Including bidding WAY too much for a unit or locker, just to show off for the cameras...

Just my $0.02' worth...

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Ebooks - Worth their salt?

With all due respect...

Couldn't disagree more with the "jump right in" idea. For the price of less than lunch at McDonalds, you can get an e-book that will offer some good basic info, and keep you out of trouble - and keep you from overspending - at a storage auction. Learn a few basics... then jump right in!

Greetings;

I'm happy to quote you by name, your store or other business (website, etc.).
It'd be some good publicity for anyone in the real "business" of auctions.

Thanks;
Bill

What's in it for us?

Hello All;

My name is Bill, I'm a freelance writer working on a book about storage auctions! I'm looking to talk with people who have good stories about their auction experiences, and especially the "lessons" you've learned about the storage auction business.... the good and the not-so-good. If you have any good suggestions on a "Top 10" list of things to know for auction success, I'd like to hear that too. Please get in touch at bsklodowski (at) yahoo (dot) com.

Thanks in advance;
Bill
