Stores / Re: Do you offer returns?
« on: August 20, 2013, 03:07:58 PM »
Generally we have no returns mentioned anywhere.  Its on a case by case basis.  And in most cases...yeah we take returns.  If your polite, and it doesn't work, there is no reason not to.  I have a dryer we need to sell, its going out with a 14 day explicit return guarantee because I don't have a 220 plugin for it at the shop.  Besides which, who wants to burn someone who is willing to spend money at your shop?

Past 30 days though...probably not.

Haunted house locker.  12'x30'x12'.  One of the regulars teased me about it last month asking if I had survived moving all of it and losing money.

He stopped when we told him we'd turned it around in 3 days for 1K, paid $50.

Im not sure we should have said anything...but the look on his face was worth it.

Suggestion Center / Re: Karma Added
« on: August 08, 2013, 02:09:35 PM »
Ive liked the positive karma only as generally trolls get moderated out on forums.  I suspect i am going to manage some neutral karma.  I'm just mouthy enough to annoy people, and just right enough to get positive Karma.  Unless political or economics get brought up then its hard to say, but I have found those can REALLY drive karma.  People get very upset about it if you disagree, and vote you up a lot when you agree.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: First Trip Out Today
« on: August 07, 2013, 01:51:44 PM »
Yeah theres some weird days where everything goes for way too much.  Other times its all reasonable.

And some folks see value where you dont, they may have different connections then you.  Everyone has a specific skill set I've found.  Some folks recognize valuable clothing, some antiques, I know electronics pretty well, my wife recognizes just weird off the wall stuff that I still have no idea how she knows some of that.  She feels the same way about me so together we do OK.

The Lounge / Re: How do you feel about Obama Care
« on: August 01, 2013, 06:04:55 PM »
Sigh.  I love the right wing posts about the obamacare center.....

Mostly because its so horrifically wrong, and I can tear it apart so easily.

ACTUALLY:
#1 this is a county ran program, they decided the number who would be full and part time, the reasoning is logical.
#2 almost ALL of them will be eligible for obamacare-in fact many will get it 100% free through the medicare expansion.  The rest will get it at a huge discount due to the subsidies for those making that little.

The article reeks of ignorance of how Obamacare actually works.

Reading this....a auction buyer won a storage unit, took it all home, then while going through it found child porn.  Reported it to the police, and is now in jail.

Theres a TON of missing details though.  hopefully some of them will come out as this develops.

The Lounge / Re: What do you think about the Zimmerman Trial?
« on: July 23, 2013, 06:01:17 PM »
My take on it-am I sure zimmerman was in fear for his life?  Dunno.  And that my friends is reasonable doubt.  Better to find a guilty man innocent then to send a innocent man to jail.

Get a better phone :)

I've set my iphone to silent after 10, with only people on my quickdial ringing through that, or 3 repeated calls.

Picker's Paradise / Re: Might buy hoarder house contents
« on: July 16, 2013, 04:05:19 PM »
Soo...Wait...he will move it all to the curb for you, AND you get it for free!  Awesome!

But a word of warning, look up the relevant state laws-in some places if a tenant dies intestate the state becomes the owner of the items, others require that all of the items be held for up to a year for possible relatives to claim, and some basically say that the landlord owns it all after 30 days.

Are they friends?  a 10% finders fee sure, but 20%?  A lot of people vastly underestimate the time and effort involved in all of this.

On the other hand...its a heck of a good find.

I expect eventually we will see a class action on the insurance one.   Lot of people are being told its the law, when it isn't, and complete lack of coverage-and its owned by the facility that in many cases is responsible for the damage!
