Company News / Re: We're moving back to Cloudflare
« on: January 12, 2017, 08:54:01 AM »
Straight from the camels mouth, a lot has happened since then. I just had a massive tumor partially removed from my spinal cord. It had penetrated the spinal cord sac and was eating into the bone. Before the operation, I couldn't even brush my daughter's hair. The next operation to remove the other half will be February 24th and Lord willing that will go smoothly. Haven't been hacked in a while, as far as I know.

Picker's Paradise / Shopping for a Living

I hit a lot of thrift stores and pawn shops (at least I did before the surgery) but I recall thinking that I could make a living as a professional shopper just cherry picking the jems and incredible deals and reselling them for a profit. is anyone else doing this?

Weird & Wacky Finds / Re: 8/12/15: Teen finds one-pound GOLD BAR in Lake

Nice find. I would have just stuck it in my safe until the government intentionally collapses the dollar. LOL

Weird & Wacky Finds / Re: My unusual Urn story

 calcoastgal,

You did an honorable thing. You should be proud of yourself. I found a Japanese urn once, but it was just full of candy. Still have it as a matter of fact since I collect Asian art & pottery.

So, I'm officially back for good. I'll be posting and moderating on a regular basis. I had the fight of my life in 2016, but 2017 is off to a great start. I had part of my tumor removed December 14 and I was bedridden for about 3 weeks. The tumor had penetrated the spinal cord sack and was eating into my bone. That part has been corrected, but they have to go in to remove the other half February 24th. This should be easier than the first surgery and the recovery should take far less time. Never felt pain like this in my life, but I can't complain...at least I'm still here, praise God! If I would have waited another 6 months, I would have been a quadriplegic.

The "Other" Job / Re: Getting ready to leave "the other job"
« on: September 21, 2016, 01:32:27 PM »
You ever feel the stress of knowing there's no guranteed paycheck or do you thrive on that? I find myself getting a little nervious at times but trying to get a few different hustles going so if one thing slows down I still have other stuff going on.

Up until recently, no. The income from the subscription model was almost like a guaranteed income until we got hacked. But even when I was buying storage units full time, never really worried. Just gave the first 10% of my earnings to God and I always had more than enough. The blessings were constant, so I never really worried.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: paintings
« on: September 21, 2016, 01:26:54 PM »
Keep in mind, sometimes the frames are worth more than the art. I found this painting in a storage unit. The frame was over the top gaudy but the art was my taste. I sold the gilded 5X4 frame for $100. I reframed the art and I still have it in my bedroom. It's an Italian waterway scene in a Moroccan themed room, that should tell you how much I like it!

This may be old news to some of you, but it looks like Storage Treasures was bought out by OpenTech Alliance, Inc. about 9 months ago.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Okay... I got busy with LIFE
« on: September 21, 2016, 01:13:20 PM »
As a storage facility owner, I can tell you that everybody has a load of junk in their storage unit and the real finds are still far and in between. But that makes the thrill of the search even more exciting isn't it?

I'm just speaking for myself, but the thrill is what keeps me buying storage units. The money is secondary. Some people buy lottery tickets, others day trade or gmable at casinos. I prefer buying storage units where at least the odds are stacked in my favor.

I made a few changes that will increase the site's page load time. As soon as I have some free time I'll dive into it deeper.

I agree, but in an effort to keep the site spam free, I removed it. It would be different if the post came from a regular participant on the forum or at very least had some relevance.

What is a tumbler widget?

I think it's a really short witch who is taking gymnastics.
It's kind of like an app, but for websites. In this case, it allows website users to share content using their Tumbler accounts.

Welcome Back..

The site has been down mostly or very slow. Still sluggish.

Thanks for the advice, I'll see what I can do to speed things up. Look on the bright side, at least the site isn't in Russian any more. Being hacked sucks, but considering my current health issues, what they destroyed seems rather insignificant now.

How's everyone doing? It's been a while.

Last time I was here, it was like a one / two punch. One, sites got hacked. Two, diagnosed with a gigantic tumor on my spine moving into my brain. Scheduled for Neurosurgery in a couple months. Lord willing, everything will go well.

So what's been going on on the forum lately? Any spam need to be deleted?

Anything interesting been happening in the world of storage auctions?

Any good scores lately?
